The Video / LED Systems Specialist is responsible for the design and maintenance of video and LED display systems for large-scale live events. This role ensures that all video and LED elements deliver the highest level of technical performance, visual impact, and reliability. The specialist will work closely with production managers, technical directors, and other department leads to integrate video systems seamlessly with lighting, audio, and scenic elements. Success in this role requires both deep technical expertise and a solutions-focused, customer-service mindset in fast-paced live event environments.

  • Interpret production designs and translate them into technical video/LED system layouts.
  • Create detailed equipment lists, signal flow diagrams, and deployment plans.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineering to ensure accurate pre-production planning.
  • Consult with design and structure engineers to best offer solutions for special project layouts and meet client requirements.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors for engineered solution rentals.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues under time-critical conditions.
  • Develop and implement standardized quality control (QC) processes for video and LED systems.
  • Assist with development and deployment of video related training programs.
  • Assess, test, and provide recommendations on emerging equipment to guide strategic direction for LED, processing, cameras, control, and video technologies.
  • 5+ years of professional experience with video/LED systems in live event production.
  • Strong knowledge of LED processors (e.g., primarily Brompton, as well as Novastar), switchers (e.g., Barco, Ross, Analog Way), and media servers (e.g., Millumin, Resolume, Watchout).
  • Familiarity with projection systems, camera systems, and video networking (TCP/IP, LANs, address, as well as NDI, and SMPTE 2110 is a plus).
  • Ability to read and create technical drawings and signal flow diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Vectorworks, Google Workspace, Flex, and Monday.com are preferred.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Video Production, Broadcast Technology, Electrical Engineering, Live Event Technology, or related field.
  • Equivalent experience in large-scale live event production, touring, or broadcast may substitute for formal education.
