Video Editor - Kold
About The Position
Southern Arizona's news leader is seeking someone with an interest in video editing who understands the digital world we live in. This person will edit video for newscasts and our digital platforms, and they will also be trained as a member of our digital team – because this is a DIGITAL FIRST newsroom. We’re looking for someone who lives for current events – who gets that adrenaline rush from breaking news and who will hustle to get video and digital stories ready for our eager audiences. The ideal candidate will have experience with nonlinear editing software (Edius preferred), writing skills, creativity, and drive. This person will work with our newscast producers and directors to craft great shows and be able to help our digital team to craft streaming and on-demand content.
Requirements
- Non-linear editing skills required (Edius experience preferred)
- Strong communication skills required
- Ability to work well under pressure and well with a diverse group of people is required
- Flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities required
- Attention to detail and accuracy while working to meet daily deadlines required
- Ability to balance the demands of both long and short-term projects while meeting daily deadlines required
- Willingness to work flexible shifts and be on call required
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism or a related field preferred
- 1-2 years of newsroom experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Produce edited audio/video material for broadcast, streaming, digital, and social media platforms and collaborate with coworkers to do so
- Edit content that tells interesting and entertaining stories for our audience
- Produce high-quality, accurate, consistent video content
- Meet strict and tight deadlines
- Receive and distribute live and recorded feeds from and to our various partners
- Take charge and show off your creative ideas in long-format feature pieces
- Be flexible and nimble in breaking news coverage
