About The Position

The Victim Services Advocate provides essential support, advocacy, and crisis intervention to individuals impacted by crime and trauma. This role includes serving as a vital member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), providing rapid-response assistance during after-hours crises. Grounded in trauma-informed care, the Advocate ensures victims are treated with dignity while helping them navigate legal and medical systems.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing. Reliable transportation is required for ERT deployments, court accompaniment, and off-site meetings.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Outlook is required.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure, emergency situations.
  • Deep understanding of the psychological impact of trauma and a commitment to avoiding re-traumatization.
  • Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check and complete mandatory advocacy training

Responsibilities

  • ERT Participation: Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team, responding to immediate crises at hospitals, crime scenes, or law enforcement agencies as needed.
  • Rapid Response: Provide immediate emotional support, on-scene crisis stabilization, and safety planning during high-stress situations.
  • On-Call Availability: Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 availability for emergency victim services.
  • Participant Intakes: Assist Case Managers with the initial intake process, ensuring all participant documentation is completed accurately and with a trauma-informed approach.
  • Data Management: Utilize Salesforce to maintain detailed, confidential client records and track service delivery.
  • Communication: Manage professional correspondence and appointment scheduling through Microsoft Outlook.
  • Guide victims through the criminal justice, medical, and social service systems.
  • Assist with the filing of restraining orders and provide court accompaniment during legal proceedings.
  • Help victims apply for state compensation and other financial benefits.
  • Coordinate with law enforcement, healthcare providers, and legal professionals for a unified response.
  • Educate the community about victim rights and encourage help-seeking behavior.
