About the position

The Victim Advocate position at REACH of Macon County involves providing direct support and services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. The role focuses on client intake, counseling, case management, and community collaboration to enhance victim services. The advocate will also assist in training volunteers and ensure adherence to best practices in victim support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct client services including intakes, supportive counseling, and case management.
  • Assist Court Advocate with information and accompaniment for court advocacy duties.
  • Facilitate coordination of community collaboration for victim services.
  • Research, develop, and distribute informational materials specific to victim services.
  • Document client files, statistics, and programmatic information as requested.
  • Provide individual and group life skills training for participants.
  • Offer job counseling, job training, and placement services.
  • Conduct financial education and collaborate with financial institutions for referrals.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational groups and enrichment classes for job training and financial empowerment.
  • Provide crisis counseling, information/referrals, and peer support group services.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in social services or related field.
  • Strong management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
  • Human relations/social service skills are a plus.
