About The Position

The Victim Advocate position at the Town of Hudson is a part-time role focused on providing support and information to victims of crime or crisis. The advocate aims to reduce the physical and emotional suffering of victims by offering emotional and social support, educating them about their rights, and facilitating communication with law enforcement and support agencies.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in human services, social work, or a directly related field or two (2) years related college level course work preferred but not required
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Valid Colorado driver's license with good driving record
  • High level of discretion and ability to keep information confidential
  • Self-motivated individual and ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to be available for on-call service with a response time of 1 hour or less

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish speaking skills highly desirable
  • Previous experience working in a law enforcement agency highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Assesses victim needs and provides intervention, comfort, and/or referral to supportive agencies and for other services
  • Provides victim follow-up contact or initiates outreach contact
  • Acts as a liaison between victim and investigators or patrol officers
  • Advises victim of the court process
  • Educates victims on their mandated rights
  • Provides victim with case status
  • Assists with education of police personnel regarding victim/witness services
