About The Position

The Victim Advocate I position is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating activities related to the Victim Services Program, which serves the entire university community including students, faculty, and staff. The role ensures that 24/7 support and services are available for victims of violence, including battery, assault, sexual battery, and domestic violence, as well as harassment cases such as stalking and hate crimes. The advocate assists victims in navigating criminal and administrative proceedings, addressing immediate needs such as transportation, safe housing, medical assistance, and academic support. The position also involves on-call crisis counseling for victims of sexual battery and other forms of violence. Additionally, the advocate is responsible for training volunteer crisis counselors and developing training programs on topics related to victim rights and awareness. Coordination with various internal and external offices that provide victim services is also a key responsibility. The advocate collects information on victimization issues and disseminates it in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. This position is designated as an Essential Employee, meaning the advocate may be required to work during emergencies or special events.
