Nasdaq’s U.S. equities and options markets are among the most liquid, technologically advanced, and systemically important markets in the world. The U.S. Market Surveillance organization plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of these markets and supporting Nasdaq’s standing as a trusted and innovative exchange operator. The U.S. surveillance function is responsible for real‑time and post‑trade monitoring across Nasdaq’s U.S. exchanges, detection of market abuse, oversight of issuer‑related events that may impact trading, and management of trading‑floor surveillance for Nasdaq PHLX. The team ensures compliance with SEC, FINRA, and SRO rules; identifies and escalates unusual market activity; and partners closely with regulatory, legal, and technology teams to safeguard transparent, orderly, and efficient markets. The overarching goal of the U.S. Market Surveillance function is to uphold investor protection, promote market integrity, and ensure that the U.S. markets operated by Nasdaq remain fair, orderly, safe, efficient, and globally competitive.
