About The Position

The Vice President of Technology - Product Development at Copart is a senior leadership role focused on driving the architecture and design of scalable applications and microservices, particularly in the realm of Data and AI. This position emphasizes coaching and developing technical teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, and ensuring the delivery of high-impact engineering processes. The role requires a strong partnership with product and user experience teams, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation within the technology landscape.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in Software Development.
  • 4+ years of experience in hiring, managing, and developing high-impact teams.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Computer Information Systems, Math, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
  • Hands-on experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, C/C++, C#, and .NET.
  • Extensive experience with cloud-based systems, particularly Azure.
  • Strong ability to review and evaluate code.
  • Experience with distributed systems design and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and coach others effectively.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Angular and React frameworks.
  • Familiarity with async programming patterns and parallel programming.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop technical teams of engineers across all levels.
  • Drive long-term architecture and detailed design for scalable front-end applications and back-end microservices.
  • Promote design thinking for systems and engineering processes with a focus on simplicity and maintainability.
  • Deliver value through collaboration across diverse and remote teams.
  • Identify and deliver impactful solutions both internally and externally.
  • Improve engineering processes to ensure services and components are well-defined, secure, reliable, and actively monitored.
  • Model an open, honest, and inclusive approach to problem-solving.
  • Conduct ongoing career development conversations and manage team performance through regular check-ins.
  • Partner with product and user experience teams to align on business needs.
  • Establish and model a culture of learning, growth, and innovation within the technology leadership.
