About The Position

UDR, Inc. is now hiring a Vice President - Tax to join our team at our corporate office in Highlands Ranch. The role involves providing tax analysis and planning for the Company, overseeing all aspects of tax compliance issues, and assisting in developing an adequate system of internal controls and financial reporting. The Vice President - Tax will work with outside accounting and law firms on audit and tax issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Tax.
• Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Tax preferred.
• CPA is required.
• Minimum of 20 years' real estate and REIT tax experience.
• Minimum of eight years' of managerial experience.
• Minimum of five years' experience with Sarbanes-Oxley audit programs and practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the tax compliance department in planning and analysis for the company.
• Provide tax advisory services to department heads and business unit leaders.
• Oversee all tax compliance matters including due diligence activities and quarterly tax accruals.
• Accountable for quality, efficiency, cost effectiveness, and financial management for the tax department.
• Ensure compliance with all current state tax laws and regulations.
• Direct the implementation of changes in tax legislation as it impacts tax operations.
• Maintain strong internal controls for external reporting of tax information.
• Review and approve the preparation of the income tax provision and SEC disclosures.
• Manage quarterly and annual effective tax rate analysis and overall income tax preparation.
• Hire and train new staff and develop staff to maximize potential.
• Supervise direct reporting staff and monitor performance.
