About The Position

The Real Estate Director is responsible for leading and overseeing the management of company's owned and leased real estate portfolios. The role manages real estate capital investments, workplace strategy and design, heritage management, sustainability initiatives, construction, facilities, building systems, grounds, and housekeeping and ensures the proper maintenance of all company properties and provides oversight for construction activities, contracts, and utilities. The role collaborates closely with key stakeholders in the development, coordination, and execution of the capital expense (Capex) plan. The role also drives talent management, employee selection, succession planning, performance management, compensation management, employee development and coaching in career development, and operational management.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in Facility or Commercial Property Management, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in any relevant discipline, and/or commensurate experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and provides guidance for various aspects of the company's owned and leased real estate including construction, facilities management, building systems, grounds maintenance, and housekeeping.
  • Leads and oversees leased real estate and strategic partners, including lease management, portfolio management, moves, closings, and tenant improvements.
  • Manages workplace strategies and design for building and space modifications, as well as tenant improvements.
  • Develops the annual and multi-year Capital Expense (Capex) plan in collaboration with internal stakeholders, manages project execution aligned with departments reporting to this position, and coordinates plan updates.
  • Plans for the mechanical, electrical, and structural needs of the company, including ongoing preventative maintenance, upgrades, renovations, and new construction.
  • Provides leadership and oversight of the company's heritage management plans and activities, including managing the heritage management vendor and collaborating with internal stakeholders to integrate, coordinate, and execute plan requirements.
  • Manages strategic vendor relationships for lease management and represents the company in negotiations for other real estate-related contracts.
  • Leads and oversees sustainability initiatives, including environmental reporting, energy management, and designing and operating healthy spaces.
  • Collaborates with the Corporate Safety, Security, and Compliance leads to maintain life safety and access control systems in company properties.
  • Owns accountability for talent management and navigation of employee related issues that impact morale and work environment to ensure a high performing team including hiring, selection, succession planning, performance and compensation management, and employee development and career coaching as required.
  • Manages priorities and workload distribution and removes barriers that impede progress.
