About the position

We are seeking an exceptional VP of Product Management to lead our Payment Platform team. This role is an opportunity to shape Flywire’s Payment Platform into a best-in-class offering, enabling global scale, enhancing automation, and driving revenue through innovation. This payments executive will own the strategy and execution across critical domains: Payment Gateway – Enabling global payment acceptance and disbursement, supporting a variety of payment methods across regions. Transaction Services – Managing the end-to-end money movement across Flywire, including FX currency conversion for cross-border transactions. Payment Services – Developing pricing, hedging, and risk management services to optimize cost efficiency and payment performance. Checkout Experience – Designing a seamless, high-converting payment experience across payment methods globally. This includes complex bank transfers, cards, and alternate payment methods. Payment API – Building the abstraction layer for all payment flows (acceptance, payouts, etc.) to power both internal applications and external partners/clients.

Responsibilities

  • Define & execute the Payment Platform strategy – Aligning product vision with business growth, scaling for global expansion, and improving monetization.
  • Lead a global product team – Build and manage a team of product leaders, including those responsible for Payment Gateway, APIs, and Transaction Services.
  • Drive platform scalability & resilience – Ensuring our payment infrastructure is reliable, flexible, and optimized for cost efficiency.
  • Partner across engineering, finance, compliance, partnerships, and GTM teams – Working cross-functionally to develop innovative, enterprise-grade payment solutions.
  • Shape and influence Flywire’s external payment strategy – Partner with network strategy and partnerships team to build and maintain connections with payment providers, banks, and technology partners.
  • Optimize conversion & customer experience – Enhancing the checkout flow to drive higher success rates and better payment experiences.
  • Mentor and scale a world-class team – Recruiting, developing, and growing product leaders within the Payments organization.

Requirements

  • Proven payments industry experience – you’ve led payment method or platform teams at financial technology or financial services companies with a focus on customer experience and scaling payment platforms.
  • 10+ years of product leadership experience.
  • Hands-on leader – you can inspire and lead high-performing teams while also rolling up your sleeves to dive into details when needed.
  • You understand payment acceptance, disbursements, FX, treasury, and payment APIs.
  • Track record of building and integrating complex platforms – You’ve led teams that built APIs, modular payment services, or scalable money movement infrastructure.
  • Customer-obsessed & data-driven – you excel at using data, experimentation, and insights to drive payment performance and user experience.
  • Strong technical acumen – while not an engineer, you’re fluent in payments architecture, API design, and payment system resiliency.
  • Strategic & execution-oriented – you can define a vision, align stakeholders, and execute ruthlessly.
  • Stakeholder management – you have proven experience of effectively managing senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Global mindset – experience working with international teams and solving cross-border payments challenges.
