About The Position

The Vice President (VP), Private Equity Risk serves as a senior advisory and execution resource supporting private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies throughout the transaction lifecycle. The individual in this role leads insurance risk due diligence, identifies material risk issues, and structures post-close insurance programs aligned with sponsor strategy and deal timelines. The VP partners closely with private equity deal teams, portfolio company leadership, legal and financial advisors, and internal brokerage specialists to deliver deal-ready insurance solutions and ongoing portfolio risk support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in insurance brokerage, risk advisory, or transaction support with exposure to private equity or M&A environments.
  • Property and Casualty License from state of domicile is required and must be maintained.
  • Strong technical understanding of commercial insurance programs and risk evaluation.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required to maintain effective relationships with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors and others.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word).
  • Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Strong ability to listen, discern, prioritize, and negotiate with clients and insurance carrier representatives based on a deep understanding of relevant issues.
  • Ability to evaluate and make decisions, recognize potential conflicts and observe appropriate precautions.
  • Ability to function effectively under tight time constraints, consistently meet strict deadlines, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment.
  • Ability to travel as required by business need.

Nice To Haves

  • Four-year degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Economics or other related field preferred.
  • Surplus Lines License strongly preferred.
  • Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or RPLU preferred.
  • Prior experience working directly with private equity sponsors or portfolio companies preferred.
  • Familiarity with transaction insurance products and deal-related risk mitigation strategies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and oversees insurance due diligence for complex private equity transactions, directing cross‑functional internal teams and external advisors to deliver comprehensive risk assessments within transaction timelines.
  • Evaluates target company insurance programs, claims experience, and risk transfer structures to identify material coverage gaps, emerging exposures, and value‑impacting risks.
  • Develops and delivers executive‑level insurance due diligence reports for private equity sponsors, lenders, and deal advisors, translating technical findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Advises sponsors and deal teams on risk mitigation strategies, including optimal post‑close insurance program design and integration planning.
  • Orchestrates multi‑line insurance solutions across Property & Casualty, Management Liability, Cyber, Employee Benefits, and Transactional Risk to support transaction objectives.
  • Leads or supports placement of transaction‑related insurance, including Representations & Warranties, coordinating strategy, structure, and execution.
  • Cultivates and leverages senior carrier and underwriting relationships to negotiate favorable coverage terms, limits, conditions, and pricing.
  • Serves as a trusted strategic advisor to private equity sponsors and portfolio company leadership on enterprise risk, insurance strategy, and governance considerations.
  • Contributes to business development and thought leadership initiatives, including sponsor engagement, deal sourcing support, and market‑facing insights.
  • Performs other projects, duties, and tasks, as assigned.
