Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our Operational Excellence leadership team in the role of Vice President – Operational Excellence. Leads through influence the next chapter in our Process Excellence and Continuous Improvement journey. Works effectively in a matrixed and relationship-driven culture leading change across the health system. Models IU Health's values, embraces its vision, and leads through respect, humility and intellectual curiosity. Works collaboratively with senior leaders across the enterprise. Provides direct leadership to a team of process improvement experts working at the system level and indirect leadership to teams of process improvement experts working in IU Health's regions and business units. Facilitates and supports meaningful outcomes and process excellence in pursuit of IU Health's ten-year vision, five-year strategic plan, and annual operating objectives (promise dashboard elements). Establishes strong linkage to IU Health's strategy and innovation teams to support a balanced portfolio of work to achieve these goals. Ensures alignment across the organization of standard work and Evidence Based Practice (EBP) while allowing for innovation and new ideas. Leads an office that provides program management, project management, process improvement methodologies and tools, and change management. Guides and leads the system on a journey toward high reliability, a culture of continuous improvement, and pervasive process excellence. Ensures high fidelity and maturity of the management system (including the operations and tiered huddle system). Responsible for the training and development of team members in continuous improvement methodologies and tools. Ensures the maintenance and ongoing development of a system landing page for awareness, education, and development. Works with other system leaders to develop and cascade continuous improvement leader development while creating a culture of safety, trust, and accountability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Requires 10+ years of relevant operational excellence/transformation experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of operational experience at a director-level or higher.
  • Combined experience between multi-site and multi-service line must be at least 15 years.
  • Must have a track record of delivering strong process improvement results in large, complex projects.
  • Understands theory and has demonstrated application of change management fundamentals is required.
  • Six Sigma, Master Blackbelt, Lean Leader, and/or PMP Project Management Certification is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Degree in Industrial Engineering is preferred.
