The Vice President of Tissue Donor Call Center & Recovery Services provides executive leadership and strategic direction for donor referral intake, call center operations, tissue authorization, and the complete tissue recovery process. This role supervises and directs all Donor Center operations, including donor screening, authorization for tissue recovery, coordination with local hospitals, and communication with contracted tissue bank partners. The Vice President ensures a seamless transition between donor authorization and recovery activities while upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, service quality, and donor-family support.

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Donor Center and Tissue Recovery Services, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, adherence to internal policies, and alignment with industry best practices.
  • Monitors the tissue consent process, serves as a liaison to hospitals for tissue procurement activities.
  • Guides the Donor Center towards accomplishing the organization's mission and goals by providing leadership, resources and direction.
  • Direct the strategic planning and execution of key operational functions, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase tissue authorization and donation rates, enhance operational workflows, and strengthen cross-departmental integration.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, including donor conversion rates, recovery outcomes, case timeliness, and adverse events, using data insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead and support operational teams, focusing on performance management and initiatives that optimize donor referral, authorization, and tissue recovery processes and outcomes.
  • Manage budgets and financial performance, making data-driven decisions that ensure the sustainability and long-term financial health of the tissue bank.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including contracted tissue bank partners, vendors, healthcare professionals, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations.
  • Oversee relationships with medical examiners and funeral homes, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and service excellence.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, including oversight of hiring, workforce planning, training, and ongoing staff development.
  • Develop, review, and approve training programs that promote operational competence, staff readiness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide oversight of donor suitability criteria, technical policies, and clinical procedures to ensure compliance with FDA, Department of Health, and American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) standards.
  • Participate in after-hours and emergency response activities, including occasional evening/weekend work and travel within the service area for hospital engagement, site visits, donor recoveries, and staff supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in tissue donor center, tissue banking or organ donation, including a minimum of five years in a leadership capacity, with comprehensive knowledge of applicable regulatory and compliance standards (FDA, state health departments, CMS, and AATB).
  • Proven ability to drive measurable results, with a track record of improving operational performance and achieving organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of and ability to function effectively within a hospital operating room environment, including familiarity with sterile technique and clinical workflows.
  • High level of sensitivity and professionalism when interacting with grieving family members, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, coach, mentor, and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
