About The Position

The Vice President for Student Development will create, provide, and maintain services and programs consistent with students’ needs and the institutional mission. Additional duties include, but are not limited to: Administrative and supervisory responsibilities for the area of student life, student affairs, student union, and campus ministry, etc. Administrative and supervisory responsibilities for the area of career planning, and placement, services associated with residence life and housing, counseling, intramural programs and programming related to recreational activities and facilities. Directs staff meetings with Student Development personnel on a bi-weekly basis. Coordinates in-service training for all staff members in Student Development. Provides for budget planning, supervision and program implementation for each unit within Student Development. Provides oversight of property inventory for the Division of Student Development. Directs and coordinates research as it pertains to Student Development. Serves as advisor to the President in general campus governance through membership on the President’s Cabinet. Provides for annual revision of Student Development and other student-related handbooks. Provides for annual evaluations and employment recommendations for all personnel within the area of Student Development. Communicates the goals, needs, and accomplishments of the Division of Student Development to College administrations, students and alumni. Performs administrative and supervisory responsibilities for the support staff to the Office of the Vice President for Student Development.

Requirements

  • minimum of a master’s degree in student services, administration or a related field
  • a minimum of five years experience in higher education, student affairs activities or related administrative experience
  • demonstrated record of leadership
  • supervisory and administrative skills
  • prior responsibilities for financial control of operating budget and revenue producing functions
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in relating and working with a diverse college community
