About The Position

The ideal candidate will possess a strong operational background, a solid understanding of stadium building systems (MEP, life safety, and structural interfaces), to provide informed oversight and direction. Responsibilities will span facility maintenance, stadium operations, capital projects, groundskeeping, housekeeping, sustainability initiatives, and vendor management. This role requires strong leadership, cross-department collaboration, and the ability to execute large scale projects and events while maintaining operational excellence and regulatory compliance. Additionally, this role will have direct management of the SEIU Local 1 CBA.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Sports, Entertainment, and/or Hospitality within a high-profile, high-volume, service-oriented environment with a population of diverse teammates and stakeholders. At least 5 years in a senior management position.
  • Proven success in the acquisition, promotion, and production of large, high-profile events.
  • Proven record of developing business plans and revenue goals and meeting and exceeding those revenue goals and creating revenue growth year over year.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory agency (health, liquor control, etc) standards and requirements as well as industry best practices.
  • Strong executive presence and influence to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across the company.
  • Excellent ability to manage competing priorities, work in a fast-paced environment and identify broader opportunities to improve processes and exceed the business plan deliverables.
  • Solid customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and foster internal and external relationships.
  • Strong organizational development and talent management skills with the ability to make complex decisions in a rapidly changing environment and competitive marketplace; ability to work and manage divergent teams focused on multiple, complex projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills with ability to present business and/or financial information in both verbal and written formats to a variety of stakeholders to include internal senior executives and external officials.
  • Exemplary management skills. Ability to effectively partner to solve human resource and personnel problems; to deal constructively with conflict; to motivate, provide counsel and execute appropriate solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, or a related field.
  • Experience in both client and contractor project delivery.
  • Proficiency in CM-at-Risk and CM-at- Agency methods.
  • Extensive knowledge of MEP infrastructure, turf management systems, and broadcast scoreboard technologies.
  • Proficiency with operating systems including ISS-24/7 and AutoCAD LT.

Responsibilities

  • Review and develop annual business plans for all reporting departments. Provide leadership and resources to enable direct reports to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Responsible to develop and manage to annual budgets for reporting departments. Monitor monthly financials and act where appropriate.
  • Lead coordination with stadium department heads to ensure effective implementation of basic venue operations at all times and all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, risk management, safety precautions, rules/regulations, and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of capital planning for all projects, in a way that supports the strategic vision of the organization, enables revenue growth and brand/fan engagement opportunities, and maintains the facilities in a 1st class condition.
  • Represent interests of the KC Chiefs as a liaison to the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority (JCSCA) (owner of GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium) and Kansas City Royals.
  • Maintain position as sustainability leader in sports and entertainment venues through innovative and effective waste diversion, energy conservation, and other sustainability initiatives.
  • Build and motivate highly effective and high performing teams through communication, coaching/development, collaboration, and performance management.
  • Review and negotiate all relevant contracts and agreements on behalf of the venues such as maintenance and construction contracts, labor agreements, venue use agreements, etc.
  • Identify opportunities to facilitate cross departmental communication and collaboration that enable higher efficiency in work output and achievement of company goals.
