About The Position

The Vice President of Safety at Lexicon, Inc. is a senior leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs across the organization. This position prioritizes employee health and safety, ensures compliance with safety regulations, and fosters a culture of safety within the construction industry. The VP of Safety will lead a team of safety professionals, collaborate with senior leadership, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in safety management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the industrial construction industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA and other relevant safety regulations and standards.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.

  • Experience in behavior-based safety principles.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene and injury prevention strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a company-wide safety strategy and vision.
  • Lead the safety department, providing guidance and direction to safety managers and officers.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate safety into all business operations and decisions.
  • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Utilize and implement industry best practices to promote a world-class safety culture focused on preventing serious incidents.
  • Stop operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
  • Plan, implement, and review safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of safety programs to ensure effectiveness and compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct site assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and emergency response plans.
  • Lead investigations into safety incidents and near-misses to determine root causes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of incidents to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Prepare and present regular safety performance reports to senior management and the board of directors.
  • Foster open communication and collaboration across departments to promote a shared commitment to safety.
