About The Position

The Vice President of Information Technology is responsible for leading the strategic direction and execution of technology initiatives at Greater Iowa Credit Union. This role involves overseeing IT operations, managing technology resources, and ensuring the security and efficiency of information technology systems. As a member of the senior leadership team, the VP of IT collaborates with leadership to align technology strategies with business goals, enhancing member service through innovative solutions while managing the IT budget to ensure cost-effective solutions.

Requirements

  • Eight to ten years of similar or related experience, preferably in a financial institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years direct supervisory experience.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent formal certifications recognized in the industry.

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and supervisory skills.
  • Advanced analytical/technical knowledge pertaining to decision analysis and financial/budget administration.
  • Ability to provide technical solutions to problems and possess an extensive background in data processing software and hardware knowledge.
  • Extensive knowledge of Credit Union operations, compliance, and information needs.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the IT department, ensuring high availability and reliability of systems.
  • Manage, direct, oversee, and ensure the efficiency of Computer Operations, Telecommunications, Information Systems, LAN/WAN Networks, and PC systems.
  • Ensure that Information services' systems are secure, properly backed-up, and appropriately documented.
  • Build, mentor, and lead the Information Technology team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and professional growth.
  • Promote open communication and transparency through team meetings, coaching, and establishing clear performance metrics.
  • Direct resource allocation and proper execution across technology functions to maintain service level objectives.
  • Develop consistent, repeatable project management delivery methodologies within IT and implement effective collaboration with business units.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with Credit Union employees and leadership.
  • Keep the COO and Board of Directors informed of Information Systems progress and advise on critical issues.
  • Evaluate, manage, and mitigate risk within the IT area.
  • Complete required reports and records.
  • Build relationships and negotiate agreements with key vendors.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and committees as required.
  • Create, maintain, and enforce written policies and procedures regarding data processing and infrastructure.
  • Provide leadership in the development of systems security to ensure compliance with financial, regulatory, and industry requirements.
  • Ensure business continuity through resource allocation and development of an IT Disaster Recovery plan.
  • Perform security assessments on all systems and resolve any discovered issues.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and changes in the information services field.
