About The Position
Swarm Aero is redefining air power, building the largest swarming UAV and most versatile swarming aircraft network in the world. The company is moving quickly to launch the first aircraft designed specifically for swarming as well as the Command & Control software to mobilize swarms of thousands of heterogenous autonomous assets and empower human operators to achieve superhuman results. The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic. The VP of Government Affairs will own the shaping and execution of the company’s legislative strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and proactively providing actionable insights on policy developments. Acting as the company’s primary representative to Congress, this leader will advance legislative priorities, secure priorities, and orchestrate impactful engagements such as briefings, site visits, and high impact events.
Requirements
- Minimum five years, but preferably eight years of Congressional experience
- Knowledge of defense issues and a demonstrated history of working with at least one of the Congressional defense committees or subcommittees
- Moved with urgency to make big things happen
- Worked in or with defense industries, especially aerospace
- Practiced people skills in the legislative sphere
- Exceeded professional standards for lobbyists
- Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance
- To conform to U.S. Government controlled technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Responsibilities
- Devise our Congressional engagement approach and manage its execution.
- Be the company guide for all things Congressional, articulate courses of action for the executive team, and make recommendations based on your considered judgment.
- Get informed and excited about what we are building, and understand the role it will play in our national security.
- Develop the relationships before they are needed to advocate smartly for the company when it matters most.
