About The Position

We are Claybourne, one of the fastest growing cannabis brands in North America. Our team is known for being highly dedicated to our retail partners and consumers while going above and beyond with flower quality, flower consistency and innovative new product development. We are seeking an experienced, motivated, Vice-President of Finance to prepare us for the next stages of growth. The VP of Finance oversees all financial activities of an organization, acting as a key strategic partner to the CEO and board. The core responsibilities include financial planning and analysis, managing cash flow, overseeing accounting, ensuring regulatory compliance, and communicating financial performance to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Four-year Bachelor's Degree in accounting with 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in an agricultural and/or manufacturing/distribution environment.
  • 10+ years in accounting and/or finance organizations in a similar capacity.
  • Fluency in QuickBooks including implementation and maintenance.
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business
  • Knowledge of Cost Accountant principle along with financial accounting
  • Experience securing debt and developing a multi-tiered finance strategy for growth
  • Preparation of financial statements for audit, taxes, and annual/monthly reporting.
  • Experience in a high-growth environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation along with the desired industry experience.
  • Experience with Debt & Equity fund raising, venture capital and equity investments preferred
  • Experience handling federal and state grants, and compliance with government finance and accounting practices.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements for Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all finance functions including financial accounting, financial reporting, tax compliance, investment, and fund accounting.
  • Develop and prepare annual, quarterly, and monthly accounting reports, budgets, and forecasts for management to understand and review performance against goals and objectives including capital projects.
  • Performs analysis to assist in financing decisions, as well as primary responsibility for cash flow management.
  • Develop internal financial reporting and commentary that provides leadership with timely insights into trends, operational results, and growth drivers.
  • Ensure legal compliance on all financial functions. Establish, maintain, and enforce documented accounting procedures.
  • Lead the processes related to operational metric review across different levels of the business.
  • Manage and supervise outside accounting and bookkeeping resources as needed
  • Provide modeling and analytical support for strategic growth projects, new product development, long-term contracts, and other business initiatives.
  • Securing financing, including debt and equity fund-raising, project finance and venture capital for continued scaling and growth of the Company.
  • Support operations in key decisions to reduce costs of production and inform analysis of operating costs in technology considerations.
  • Oversee standard, recurring, and adjustment journal entries as well as all A/R & A/P, inventory, prepaid and accrual expenses, payroll, and other financial transactions. Follow-up with RPE and vendors as needed.
  • Manage cash and prepare cash flow forecasting. Alert senior management if budgets are exceeded or cash position is compromised.
  • Review metrics and financial reports for variances, trends & current financial position.
  • Analyze monthly financials and budget variances and prepare monthly variance report and KPIs.
  • Oversee monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Complete or direct the preparation of all tax filings.
  • Develop best practices and accounting practices. Oversee all new accounting policies and procedures and provide input to continuously improve accounting processes and procedures. Ensure that all accounting systems and processes are GAAP compliance and meet all regulatory, state, federal and other applicable guidelines.
  • Maintain fixed asset system monthly, accounting for acquisitions, transfers, and disposals for the company.
  • Understand and oversee the collection of data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, land allocations, farming, packing operations, inventory, labor, and overheads (direct and indirect).
  • Make estimates of new and proposed product costs on a quarterly basis.
  • Prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs. Compare factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services and provide management gross margin and customer contribution margin reports and analysis.
  • Project manage year-end financial audit with an outside accounting firm. Serve as primary contact for all audits and requests for financial information.
  • Maintain strong, healthy, working relationships with peer senior management team, CPAs, legal counsel, banking partners, lenders and insurance agents that provide services to the Company.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
