About The Position

The Vice President of Engineering for Digital Monitoring Products is responsible for leading the Electronic Hardware and Embedded Engineering teams to ensure timely and defect-free product delivery. This role involves overseeing design testing, coordinating departmental activities, and providing technical direction while ensuring that all designs meet customer expectations and are manufacturable within budget constraints.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering management experience with demonstrated leadership ability and planning/scheduling skills.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software and digital design of consumer or security electronics devices and other embedded designs.
  • RF communication design experience, analog and microcontroller design experience preferred.
  • Business background with an MBA preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills with a desire to manage and train.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cybersecurity in product design.
  • Familiarity with consumer electronics and security devices.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, directs, and coordinates department activities, including design testing, to assure new product designs are completed on time and free from defects.
  • Gives work directions, resolves problems, prepares schedules, and sets deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Reviews engineering designs, programs, and reports, providing technical direction and support.
  • Coordinates activities of the department with related activities of other departments to ensure efficiency and economy.
  • Facilitates team code inspections and supports DMP coding standards and operational laws.
  • Oversees the use of Subversion version control software.
  • Monitors and analyzes costs and prepares budget.
  • Prepares timely, accurate, complete, and concise reports on department activities for the President.
  • Evaluates and improves current procedures and practices for accomplishing department objectives.
  • Initiates and authorizes employee hires, promotions, discharges, transfers, or disciplinary actions within the department in cooperation with Human Resources.
  • Conducts annual employee performance reviews and encourages engineering levels progression.
  • Observes and adheres to DMP Data Classification Standard and enforces Cybersecurity policies.
  • Develops in-depth knowledge of the security industry and its products.
  • Researches technologies applied in other industries for possible applications in the security industry.
  • Works with Product Management to determine products for design.
