About The Position

As the VP of eCommerce, you’ll define and drive the long-term strategy to grow the Dyson e-commerce business in the US. You’ll be a key member of the leadership team, providing thought leadership around D2C marketing, online merchandising, and selling. You’ll champion the Dyson Direct e-commerce business in the US and be fully accountable for P&L performance.

Requirements

  • 15+ years’ experience in Direct sales (manufacturers/brands, DTC, omnichannel businesses), with relevant background in consumer electronics, luxury, or beauty within E-Commerce
  • Proven track record leading Direct/D2C organizations and thriving in a matrixed environment
  • Strong commercial experience, including P&L ownership, delivering tactical and strategic performance, negotiations, planning, and financial management
  • Robust marketing background, including experience with digital marketing strategy, SEO, affiliates, social commerce, etc.
  • Able to credibly understand and lead supporting infrastructure: logistics, warehousing, IT, customer service, finance, etc.
  • “General Management” skills and mindset to own and drive the Direct business with a 360-degree approach; strong people leadership; key member of the Americas Executive Team
  • Entrepreneurial outlook; regularly challenges the norm and drives transformation and change
  • Highly collaborative team player; strong advocate for Direct business but conscious of wider business objectives

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Execution – You set the strategy and market ambitions for the US E-Commerce business, selling direct to consumers and shoppers through current and emerging digital channels.
  • Build a sustainable Direct business based on local market dynamics and Dyson’s global ambition.
  • Maintain shopper interest, confidence, and momentum to buy directly from Dyson online.
  • Build and deploy online sales strategies, considering product range, pricing, and innovation.
  • Identify and own Direct ‘white space’ opportunities to develop incremental revenue and service channels (e.g., refurbished goods).
  • Review resources and capability requirements to continue expanding the Direct business (IT infrastructure, media and marketing, projects, partnerships, etc).
  • Drive best-in-class execution of Direct strategies and activities across a wide range of shopper online touchpoints (including Dyson.com and marketplaces like eBay and Walmart.com), ensuring negotiations, onboarding, and the shopper experience support the Dyson brand.
  • P&L Ownership – You are accountable for the Direct P&L for the US (volume, revenue, profit).
  • Set, drive and track relevant targets, including overall performance, planned sales volumes, gross margin, trading profit, and P&L efficiencies.
  • Execute the sales strategy to deliver financial targets.
  • Lead online merchandising strategy and execution, in collaboration with Digital Marketing, Creative CoE, IT, and Operations.
  • Own affiliate strategy and execution.
  • Own social commerce strategy and execution.
  • Oversee testing and eCommerce operations, as well as SEO practice.
  • Partner with Sales to ensure strategy and results for online and offline sales are aligned and complementary to achieving overall market growth targets.
  • Customer Experience – You are owner-obsessed in bringing a world-class customer experience to our Direct online properties.
  • Focus single-mindedly on delivering seamless, advocacy-creating Direct customer experiences to drive incremental purchases from existing owners and encourage multiple-product homes.
  • Champion the execution of CRM, retention, and loyalty strategies.
  • Ensure customer journeys across Direct channels deliver on owner KPIs.
  • Collaborate closely with teams impacting customer delivery—e.g., logistics, supply, customer service.
  • Leadership – You are a visible, inspiring leader who brings Direct customer opportunities to life and plays a critical role on the US Leadership Team.
  • Motivate people behind clear strategic plans to fully exploit Direct opportunities, growing market profitability and protecting the Dyson brand.
  • Provide strong cross-functional leadership to accelerate the Direct business, working with customer service, IT, media, and supply chain to make sure all key building blocks (people, processes, systems) are in place.
  • Engage actively with the global Direct leadership team; share market findings, explore new ideas, and build pioneering activations based on global learnings.
  • Own talent and people development, including early careers Direct program, and manage a team of Directors, managers, and individual contributors.
