About The Position

The Pursuing Firm is seeking a senior leader for its Construction business sector in the telecommunication vertical. The ideal candidate will strategically complement existing executive leadership and greater position the firm for its next phase of growth through the strengthening of current industry contacts, recruitment efforts, technical breadth, operational strategy, and business acumen. The role partners with Engineering and Administration to translate strategic plans into safe, efficient, and repeatable construction operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
  • Ten years of progressive construction/field operations experience in wireless telecommunications (macro towers & site civil development), including five (5) or more years in senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated success delivering large multi-site wireless rollouts and complex integration projects.
  • Strong knowledge of tower construction, structural design, and site civil development.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in client strategy development, client management, and client-facing (multi-sized) project management.
  • Experience managing multi-tier subcontractor networks and major vendors.
  • Proven record of accomplishment with project controls, estimating, scheduling and PM/ERP tools.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, stakeholder, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to safety culture and regulatory compliance.
  • Travel in accordance with fluctuating industry events, client meeting/event needs, and construction department needs are required.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and advanced Excel functions is required
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience and demonstrated proficiency in the design, evaluation, and/or inspection of telecommunication structures including tower and foundation components
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development and client relations
  • Working knowledge and thorough familiarity with codes and standards relating to telecommunication structures, including TIA/EIA-222 requirements
  • Ability to interpret site construction drawings, site audits, etc. regarding spatial relationships of various telecommunications infrastructure as it relates to above and below grade structural design requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with contractors, clients or their representatives, jurisdictional officials, and other engineering vendors
  • Knowledge of bolted and welded connections
  • Knowledge of tower hardware and components, including the examination of probable cost relating to the specification of such equipment
  • Knowledge of tower reinforcement/erection and tower construction practices preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client and strategic partner relationships
  • Bachelor of Science in Structural or related engineering field from an ABET accredited institution.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership and direction for all construction operations.
  • Accountable for fiscal responsibility and sound financial management through the development, recognition, and implementation of sustainable strategic practices that increase revenues and decrease costs.
  • Develop and manage department construction budgets, forecasts, and capital expenditure; implement cost controls and margin-improvement initiatives.
  • Implement standardized construction operating processes, quality assurance/quality control protocols, technical standards, close-out standards, and continuous improvement practices to scale repeatable and consistent processes & procedures.
  • Execute subcontractor strategy: prequalification, procurement, contracting (turnkey and specialty), performance management, claims resolution, and supplier development.
  • Establish and enforce safety programs, standard operating procedures, and KPIs to achieve best in class safety performance.
  • Lead, recruit, and develop multi-disciplinary teams and build a high-performance culture.
  • Oversee risk identification, protocols, and mitigation strategies.
  • Maintaining cognizance of both the external and internal competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, and new industry developments and standards.
  • Develop client relationships, client retention practices, and grow/maintain revenue streams.
  • Represent the company with customers, vendors, regulators, and community stakeholders; support negotiations as needed.
