We are currently in search of a Vice President of Advancement to join our Development team! The Vice President of Advancement is responsible for the strategy, planning, directing, and implementation of the major gifts and planned giving programs. This position oversees the development of objectives, activities, and goals relating to generating funds to fuel our vision of creating a world where no child goes to bed hungry while increasing the visibility and understanding of the work and mission of Feed the Children. The advancement program consists of, but is not limited to stewarding, relationship development and making strategic asks from major donors and select family foundations. The Vice President of Advancement is a key member of the fundraising staff reporting to the Sr. Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Individual Giving and serves as a member of the senior staff of the Growth and Strategy division. Note: The ideal candidate for this position will be a hybrid employee working from our corporate office in Oklahoma City, OK, however all qualified candidates will be considered nationwide. Salary range : $165K-$175K (commensurate with education experience) Travel: The domestic travel requirements for this position are estimated to be up to 25% of the work time.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressively successful fundraising experience in soliciting planned gifts and major gifts ($10,000 and more) required.
  • Passion and creative energy for major gift and planned giving fundraising required
  • Strong experience in development procedures and practices, including goal setting, work planning, and holding teams accountable for achieving goals.
  • Understanding of database reporting, word processing, and spreadsheets required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and emerging collaboration software tools
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this job may be considered.
  • CFRE certification or any other certifications in fundraising preferred
  • Current driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Planning Responsible for leading the annual development strategy and execution of the major gift and planned giving fundraising portfolio for Feed the Children, driving increased revenue that supports the mission, brand, global programmatic priorities and strategic plan pillars of Feed the Children.
  • Identifies emerging philanthropic and donor trends, which help inform new fundraising opportunities for Feed the Children and spurs growth and innovation for the development program.
  • Supervises and directs the creation of impactful donor solicitation and stewardship materials that drive retention and growth.
  • Manages department P&L to ensure revenue targets are met and expenses are in line with budgets.
  • Works collaboratively to support fundraising and engagement efforts of other development departments at Feed the Children including direct response, digital, corporate partnerships, etc. to maximize fundraising growth and potential for the organization.
  • Intentionally works with direct response and digital teams to qualify donors for major gifts and/or planned giving through a transparent, data driven process.
  • Relationship Management Carries a personal caseload of high net-worth individuals.
  • Cultivates, solicits and stewards contributions from individuals, family foundations and entrepreneurs.
  • Directs relationships with vendors and third parties such as DAFs, stockbrokers, estate trustees, etc.
  • Establishes strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to advance development goals and build donor-centric culture within organization.
  • Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation Develops and monitors department budgets and report on portfolio health at weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual intervals.
  • Synthesizes large amounts of data across multiple platforms into Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) that can be used to assess ROI and drive strategic decision making.
  • Evaluates results, analyzes strategy effectiveness, and modifies fundraising strategies based upon results, coordinating efforts and gathering information as needed.
  • Tracks and monitors response of all executed efforts, making contingency plans where necessary to meet target goals.
  • Leadership and Team Management Supervises planned giving and major gifts teams; leads and motivates staff in development, cultivation and solicitation of donor portfolios.
  • Manage Advancement operations staff to efficiently support fundraising through timely gift processing and collateral development.
  • Creates short-term and long-term plans for superior performance and accountability of development team members.
  • Leads the team to a high standard of operation while supporting and encouraging them to learn and grow professionally.
  • Proactively represents Feed the Children as a thought leader at industry conferences.
  • Demonstrates ability to influence and lead in a manner that aligns to the values of the organization.
  • Maintains excellent interpersonal skills communicating in a professional manner.
  • Advocates and expresses sensitivity to the needs of donors, team members, volunteers and peers.
  • Inspires team collaboration and functions decisively but also works independently as necessary.
  • Partners with internal stakeholders to evaluate, change and/or implement processes to create efficiencies, reduce enterprise risk and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that all fundraising is carried out in keeping with Feed the Children’s values, mission, vision and plans
  • Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with policies, procedures and applicable laws including: training in job skills; planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
