About The Position

Vice President, Multi-Family Development The Lewis Group of Companies , one of the nation’s largest privately held real estate developers, is actively seeking an executive-level candidate for the position of Vice President, Multi-Family development to be located at our Upland, CA corporate office. About our Company: Lewis Apartment Communities, a member of the Lewis Group of Companies, is a leader in the development and management of rental communities in California and Nevada. The Lewis Group has developed more than 11,000 rental homes to date. This is a highly visible senior opportunity interacting with partners of the company to oversee all management of the Lewis multi-family division, with operations in California and Nevada. In total, your new position will be responsible for directing and overseeing all developments from acquisition due diligence through project occupancy, including managing entitlements, permits and all construction. Projects range from $50 million to over $100 million in total development value, with 1000s of new units currently in development. Your responsibilities will include: Overseeing development opportunities through acquisition, entitlement, construction, and stabilization, delivering investments simultaneously meeting the owners’ rate of return requirement and their expectations regarding built product on assigned developments . Managing and adding value through all stages of development, progressing multiple projects at the same time. Working hand-in-hand with Construction (our internal construction department) through all stages of development. Working with city staff to entitle new development opportunities, processes them through design review and CEQA, and obtain approvals from Planning Commissions and City Councils. Processing plans and obtaining construction permits; ensuring all development conditions and MMRP measures are met; and bringing unanticipated development issues to successful resolutions. Negotiating general contractor agreements; scopes of work, buyout, scheduling, etc Report all progress of buyouts, budgets and schedules to partners and other VPs. Interacting with senior management, company peers, and outside consultants & subcontractors in a cohesive positive manner. Qualifications to prepare you: Bachelor's degree required. Degree in civil engineering, architecture, construction science or related field is preferred Minimum of 7+ years development experience emphasizing pre-development, entitlements and resulting multi-family construction Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent mathematical skills. Strong multi-tasking skills Proficient knowledge with Microsoft Windows/Microsoft Project environment and working knowledge with spreadsheets and electronic scheduling Solid knowledge of multi-family building design and construction systems. Understand the entitlement process in California, as well as project cost reports and budgeting. Note: Regular travel will be required in the Inland Empire area of Southern California. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. Degree in civil engineering, architecture, construction science or related field is preferred
