About The Position

The VP of Vitamins-Health & Beauty Merchandising will be responsible for all aspects of merchandising and financial performance for Sprouts’ vitamins and health & beauty departments. The candidate will lead, motivate and hold team accountable for delivering a differentiated business through assortment, innovation/differentiation, and customer experience while driving sales and margin. The role will be critical in developing process, systems, controls, and then leading deployment strategies. The VP role requires a high level of collaboration across multiple teams including Merchandising, Operations, Marketing and MP&A. #LI-AD1

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and experience, MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of Retail Merchandising experience
  • Experience turning businesses around through strategy and tactics
  • Possess a strong knowledge of Merchandising, Supply Planning, and Forecasting
  • Ability to motivate and develop a successful high-performing team
  • Experience implementing systems and ability to improve business processes
  • Supplier relationship and negotiation skills
  • Strong strategic and tactical skills; ability to see the big picture and identify major issues

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-level merchandising strategy and direction for Vitamins & HBA, which includes short and long-term targets
  • Drive innovation that leads the market and creates meaningful differentiation
  • Set category performance standards and tracks progress on achieving goals
  • Lead and manage Vit/HBA leadership towards the achievement of organizational goals
  • Mentor the teams professional development and evaluate their effectiveness to drive individual and department success
  • Leverage business intelligence tools: PowerBI, SPINs, space to sales, supplier input to analyze department performance, retail trends, and consumer behavior in order to identify insights and develop new strategies
  • Approve product selection and assortment plans; oversee supplier negotiations, product pricing and promotions
  • Work cross functionally across Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Sprouts brand and Marketing to achieve results
  • Develop efficient processes that prompt collaboration and aide in decision making to flex with the ever-changing business environment.
  • Balance demands from enterprise-wide strategies with the need to be local and a reflection of our communities
  • Work closely with IT and supply chain to upgrade and connect the varied systems used for planning and assortment
  • Collaborate with the senior merchandising leadership team to achieve company goals and develop a larger merchandising strategy
  • Lead change efforts and accountability for the team
  • Provide regular feedback and challenge the status quo
