About the position

The Vice President of Innovation at Housing Partnership Network (HPN) is responsible for leading initiatives that identify and advance new business and program concepts to meet the needs of HPN members and address gaps in the affordable housing and community development marketplace. This role involves collaborating with HPN staff and members to create sustainable business solutions, oversee the Director of Innovation, and ensure that innovations align with HPN's commitment to social justice and racial equity. The VP will facilitate a collaborative process to explore, design, and launch new business ventures, while also assessing existing enterprises for improvement and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the discovery and evaluation of new business and program concepts from members and partners.
  • Facilitate member design groups to solicit input and vet concepts through conversations and meetings.
  • Work with members to identify business opportunities that advance HPN's commitment to racial and economic equity.
  • Maintain an innovation pipeline report and evaluate progress on business explorations.
  • Conduct market research to identify opportunities for acquisitions or partnerships that align with HPN's goals.
  • Produce business plans, financial statements, and conduct risk assessments for new ventures.
  • Monitor financial expenditures and ensure timely advancement of explorations.
  • Prepare investment proposals for the HPN Board Investment and Asset Management Committee.
  • Collaborate with the philanthropy team to create fundraising plans for new businesses.
  • Attend and lead virtual peer exchanges to foster idea development and collaboration.

Requirements

  • BA with advanced degree/MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong analytical skills for assessing market opportunities and business viability.
  • Experience in business development, including business plans and launching new enterprises.
  • Ability to empathize with diverse populations and approach work through a racial equity lens.
  • Experience in facilitating collaborative processes and member engagement.
  • Superior project management skills and ability to meet competing deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
