About The Position

The Head of Global Commercial Communications for Zoetis leads the global team responsible for delivering the communications strategy, planning and execution for commercial operations globally. This leader is a member of both the Global Commercial leadership team and the Corporate Affairs leadership team and reports to the EVP, Corporate Affairs. The VP Global Commercial Communications will bring the vision, strategic design and execution of communications strategies that drive business priorities in a dynamic, global, and regulated business. This includes oversight of a team that delivers leadership communications for key company spokespeople, including Commercial Leadership and the Chief Medical Officer. The Vice President, Global Commercial Communications is a strategic leader who sets the enterprise vision and multi-year roadmap for commercial communications in partnership with Global Commercial Operations and regional market leadership. The role ensures every priority product introduction—from pre- to post-launch—is supported by an integrated communications and PR strategy aligned to portfolio milestones. The VP leads internal and external portfolio communications across inline and pipeline products, including regulatory approvals and updates, data publications, lifecycle communications, and issues/crisis management. For U.S. Operations: drive thought leadership and profile-building through media, events, and digital; deliver a colleague communications strategy; and maintain a regular communications cadence for Commercial and Medical Affairs leadership. The leader will possess a combination of strategic thinking, communications and PR counsel, project management, relationship management, senior leadership skills and have experience contributing as a business leader with a functional communications expertise. To be successful, the leader must have the ability to: Lead strategic communications planning, execution and impact measurement Prioritize competing needs in a fast-paced environment Understanding of global regulatory agencies and operating in different markets. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in communications, journalism, English or related field
  • 10-15 years of experience and demonstrated skills in developing, managing and delivering internal and external communication strategies and plans in a large global, complex organization
  • Experience leading global teams and strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to understand business needs and develop strategic communication plans to support those goals and demonstrate the impact and contribution of plans.
  • Experience with communications in regulated industries, pharmaceuticals or healthcare preferred
  • Proven leadership with crisis and issues management
  • Able to work to tight deadlines, manage multiple projects at once, and maintain professionalism under pressure
  • Ability to synthesize complex and technical information and convert it into clear and concise messages for colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to successfully counsel and work with senior executives as well as mentor colleagues
  • Ability to work effectively within and across functions and levels and build cross-disciplinary teams
  • A drive for results and ability to achieve results through cross-functional teams, leveraging organization resources and exerting influence without direct authority
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and prioritize to the most impactful projects
  • Strong analytical, planning, attention to detail
  • Strong B2B2C experience
  • Freelance, vendor and agency relationship management experience helpful

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree, MBA or certifications in areas of communications a plus
  • Animal health, pharmaceutical, diagnostics or Petcare experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop commercial communications strategies impacting global markets aligned to business priorities and the Zoetis enterprise narrative.
  • Serve as senior communications strategist and advisor to Regional Commercial Presidents, the Global President of Dx, and the Chief Medical Officer, including leadership communications planning and positioning.
  • Lead cross-functional communications for launches, approvals, market-shaping initiatives, and issues management.
  • Oversee product, data, and milestone communications for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with global and regional marketing communications to ensure end-to-end portfolio alignment with the corporate brand communications priorities.
  • Lead issues management communications for commercial matters in collaboration with Legal, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Product, Operations, and related functions.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team.
  • For U.S. Operations: drive thought leadership and profile-building through media, events, and digital; deliver a colleague communications strategy; and maintain a regular communications cadence for Commercial and Medical Affairs leadership.
