About The Position

The Vice President for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (VPEDI) at Tacoma Community College (TCC) is a senior leadership role responsible for driving transformative efforts to embed equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging into all aspects of the college experience. The VPEDI will work closely with the college's leadership team to foster a vibrant campus culture where every member of the community feels valued and supported. This position involves overseeing professional development programs, analyzing institutional policies for equity, and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the college's commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in EDI initiatives.
  • At least 3 years of effective supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to collect, analyze, and use data to inform strategic planning.

  • A terminal degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience in a higher education setting, particularly community colleges.
  • Demonstrated success in recruitment and retention strategies for diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of shared governance and collaborative leadership in higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic oversight on matters related to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).
  • Supervise and mentor a team including the Director of Equity, Leadership & Development and other coordinators.
  • Design and implement a comprehensive EDI strategy aligned with the College's mission and values.
  • Analyze and recommend changes to policies and practices to eliminate barriers and advance equitable outcomes.
  • Collaborate with academic leadership to develop inclusive curricula and innovative pedagogical practices.
  • Partner with Human Resources to attract, retain, and develop a diverse workforce.
  • Develop metrics to monitor and report on the progress of EDI initiatives.
  • Lead professional development opportunities for faculty and staff focused on EDI and broader professional skills.
  • Monitor legislation related to EDI and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Serve as a key member of the College Leadership Team and contribute to strategic decision-making.
