About The Position

The Vice President of Enterprise Architecture is a senior technology leader responsible for defining and governing Safe‑Guard’s enterprise‑wide architecture across platforms, data, applications, and processes. This role ensures the organization scales responsibly, integrates effectively, and invests in sustainable, modern technologies aligned with business growth and operational efficiency. The VP partners closely with the CIO and senior technology leaders to shape architectural strategy, guide major technology decisions, and ensure the technical environment remains resilient, high‑performing, and future‑ready. The team is responsible for establishing and managing the AI CoE (Center of Excellence) focused on accelerating the adoption of AI across consumer-facing products through shared standards, approved tooling, reusable patterns, and close partnership with product and engineering teams. In addition, the team will lead select early-stage systems, to validate technologies, business requirements, design considerations, and possible partnerships As Safe‑Guard expands its platforms, products, and operational complexity, this role ensures growth is supported by intentional, cohesive architecture rather than fragmented or incremental solutions. The VP provides enterprise‑wide visibility into technology and process decisions, modernizes legacy systems, retires outdated capabilities, and enables scalable, efficient, and innovative solutions

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive experience across software engineering, data platforms, and enterprise architecture.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field required (Masters preferred).
  • Experience designing, developing, and supporting customer-facing digital products.
  • Product engineering experience, best practices, and core competencies.
  • Demonstrated success guiding large-scale architectural modernization in complex organizations.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) and modern SaaS architectures.
  • Practical experience evaluating and applying AI capabilities in enterprise or consumer-facing environments.
  • Proven ability to partner with executives and senior leaders on strategic technology decisions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable guidance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or modernizing platforms that operate at significant scale.
  • Background in data-intensive or product-driven environments.
  • Experience in insurance and automotive F&I industry, a plus.
  • Experience establishing architecture standards or CoE (Centers of Excellence) that emphasize enablement over control.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the enterprise architecture vision, principles, and roadmap aligned with business priorities and long-term strategy.
  • Establish architectural guardrails that guide teams toward consistent, scalable solutions improving delivery efficiency and speed.
  • Partner with technology leaders on evaluating platforms, tools, and technologies across the enterprise to ensure architectural consistency.
  • Provide clear, outcome-oriented guidance on architectural trade-offs and investment decisions.
  • Lead modernization efforts focused on simplifying systems, improving integration, and reducing operational friction.
  • Partner with Solutions Design, Engineering, Security, and Business leaders to translate strategic objectives into practical, scalable technology solutions.
  • Identify systems, processes, and patterns that do not scale and guide efforts to refactor, rebuild, or retire.
  • Provide architectural leadership for strategic initiatives, including Claims 2.0 and other next-generation SaaS platforms.
  • Responsible for ensuring the company has a highly effective, scalable, and supportable Data Architecture, across Snowflake, AWS, PostgreSQL, SQL Server and MongoDB.
  • Partner with Cloud leadership teams to help define and evolve AWS and Azure strategies, cost optimization (FinOps), and overall best practices.
  • Promote cloud-native and platform-based approaches that support long-term scalability and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and guide an AI CoE (Center of Excellence) focused on practical standards, governance, and responsible adoption.
  • Promote AI-first thinking where it meaningfully enhances products, productivity, and our capacity to innovate at scale.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies to determine where they deliver real business value.
  • Ensure AI capabilities are integrated thoughtfully, securely, and sustainably across the enterprise.
  • Provide direct leadership to enterprise and data architecture teams and indirect leadership across a federated technology organization.
  • Operate as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and senior business partners.
  • Influence outcomes through credibility, clarity, and partnership rather than formal authority alone.
  • Balance strategic vision with hands-on engagement when necessary to unblock progress or guide critical decisions.
