About The Position

Monroe’s Capital Markets team is looking for a dynamic individual to focus on evaluating, structuring and executing senior debt transactions. This is an ideal role for someone who wants to be at the intersection of deal execution and market strategy, with strong exposure to LPs, other lenders, financial sponsors, and internal leadership. Key responsibilities include i) running the firm’s loan syndications (both to third parties and LPs), ii) owning structuring workflows, inclusive of the grid process and commitment letters/credit agreements, iii) sourcing new club deal opportunities, and iv) serving as a key market intelligence source for the team, the firm, and Monroe’s global LP base. Monroe is seeking someone with a deep understanding of leveraged finance transactions and market deal terms (leveraged finance or capital markets structuring experience) with both experience leading deals and a great working knowledge of market metrics, terms and information resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and ideally 7-15 years in a leveraged finance/ underwriting/ capital markets position
  • Strong credit and corporate finance skills
  • Experience generating marketing materials
  • Familiarity with middle market and solid understanding of overall leveraged loan market
  • Highly motivated with ability to work in a high-pressure environment and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability/comfort interacting directly with lenders and financial sponsors, professional advisors

Responsibilities

  • Syndications Work with deal team to create syndication marketing materials and due diligence packages
  • Act as a primary point of contact for syndication execution, managing all communication with the deal team and clients
  • Collect market feedback by vetting proposed transactions with prospective lenders
  • Work with legal counsel regarding the preparation of documentation for syndicated loans, including credit agreements
  • Act as point of contact for the market on any deal syndications regarding diligence, deal syndication, execution, and closing
  • Following closing, manage a portfolio of agency credits including administering datasites, managing amendments and incremental processes, and general lender group communication
  • Structuring/Legal Work with originations/underwriting teams to review and draft indicative term sheets and deal proposals with a pulse for internal strategy and market competitive dynamics
  • Become a key stakeholder in the originations process by leading legal grid and commitment letter negotiation for new transactions
  • Point of contact for the credit committee approval process, including due diligence, comparable transactions, structural/credit documentation analysis, and syndication analysis to help determine suitable and marketable deal capital structure
  • Process and facilitate non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements
  • Market Intelligence Maintain high level of awareness and knowledge of up-to-date market information (transactions, changes in transactions, key terms, and key players)
  • Lead in creating and presenting weekly, monthly, and quarterly Capital Markets internal updates as well as external updates distributed to Monroe’s global LP base
  • Origination/Sourcing Key point of contact for the market on buy-side investment opportunities with the ability to immediately assess a given transaction, identify key attributes and detractors and effectively communicate the investment opportunity to key internal and external constituents
