About The Position

The Vice President, Data Center Products is responsible for the overall strategy, performance, and financial success (P&L) of the Data Center Product technical and financial execution to plan of record and customer commitments. This executive-level role drives long-term vision, market positioning, and organizational growth by leading cross-functional teams and making high-level strategic decisions. The Vice President Data Center Products drives the definition, execution, and Go-to-Market (GtM) activities for one or more specific Data Center products or services (e.g., modular structural products, new mechanical cooling system inclusive of sub-products, electrical controls and distribution, or a BMS/EPMS end-to-end software solution). This role focuses on optimizing the product to meet customer needs and achieve business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Product Management
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior leadership role responsible for P&L.
  • 10+ years of experience in the Data Center industry, including colocation, cloud services, networking, power/cooling infrastructure, and IT hardware.
  • 10+ years of experience launching successful, large-scale products that have achieved significant revenue growth.

  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
  • Product Test development including system-level commissioning to include factory acceptance and witness testing development.
  • System-level testing site planning for data center construction.
  • Demonstrated executive communication, negotiation, and people leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO, PCI, UL,) relevant to data center operations.

Responsibilities

  • Own the P&L for the entire Data Center product portfolio, including revenue targets, gross margin, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.
  • Define and articulate the long-term product vision and market strategy (3-5 years) for the Data Center business, identifying new market opportunities, segments, and business models.
  • Conduct high-level market analysis to anticipate industry trends, competitive movements, and regulatory changes to ensure strategic advantage.
  • Manage and propose the overall product roadmap and resource allocation across all product lines, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Define and Lead the Data Center Product Management organization, providing mentorship, direction, and career development to a team of Product Managers and associated staff.
  • Drive key partnerships and manage relationships with critical vendors, major customers, and strategic partners.
  • Oversee GTM strategy and collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to ensure successful product launches, market penetration, and customer adoption.
  • Lead due diligence for potential mergers, acquisitions, or strategic investments to expand product capabilities or market reach.
  • Coordinate financial plans, strategic investments, and fund-raising requirements as needed for 3rd party investment opportunities.
  • Serve as the executive sponsor and ultimate decision-maker for the product unit, translating business strategy into actionable product goals for Engineering and Operations.
  • Present product performance, financial forecasts, and strategic updates to the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Foster a culture of customer-centric innovation and operational excellence throughout the product organization.
  • Own the product roadmap and backlog for the assigned product(s), prioritizing features and investments based on customer value, strategic fit, and business impact.
  • Define and document detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for Engineering and Design teams.
  • Set and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as revenue, customer satisfaction (CSAT), usage metrics, and cost targets.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and R&D to manage the full product lifecycle, from ideation and concept to development, testing, and launch.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer during the development process, making trade-off decisions between scope, schedule, and resources.
  • Manage the product budget for development, tooling, and materials in alignment with the General Manager's financial goals.
  • Ensure products meet critical industry standards, security protocols, and regulatory compliance requirements relevant to data centers.
  • Develop the product's positioning, messaging, and pricing strategy in collaboration with Marketing.
  • Define and Enable Sales and Channel Partners by creating compelling sales collateral and training materials once established.
  • Support strategic customer engagements by gathering feedback and helping close key deals.
  • Monitor and analyze product performance post-launch, driving necessary iterations and optimization to maximize business value.
