CardWorks Servicing, LLC provides end-to end operational servicing functions for credit cards, secured cards, and installment loans. We service consumer and small business loans across the credit spectrum and offers backup servicing and due diligence services to capital providers and trustees. Merrick Bank is an FDIC-insured Utah Industrial Loan Bank. Merrick operates three main business lines: credit cards, recreational lending, and merchant services. Carson Smithfield, LLC provides a variety of post-charge-off debt recovery services, including digital self-service, IVR, live agent, and external agency management. The VP, Credit Card and Consumer Lending & Deposits Compliance, is responsible for the strategic leadership, oversight, and execution of compliance risk management for the Bank’s Credit Card, Consumer Lending, and Consumer Deposits product lines. This role provides direct leadership to the respective Product Compliance Team Leads, ensuring consistent execution of compliance activities, alignment with regulatory requirements, and integration with enterprise compliance standards across all in-scope products. Serving as a key liaison between the Chief Compliance Officer and the product compliance teams, the VP drives enterprise alignment, cross-functional collaboration, standardization, and continuous improvement in compliance risk management. This role plays a critical leadership function in safeguarding the Bank’s regulatory standing while enabling responsible business growth, sound risk-taking, and sustainable product innovation. Ideally, the qualified candidate will work at the following location(s): South Jordan, UT, Wilmington, DE, or Orlando, FL. A hybrid work model or fully remote model can be considered based on hiring manager decision and priorities of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Compliance, Law, or a related field preferred or at least four (4+) additional years of directly related experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Ten (10) or more years of progressive experience in banking or financial services, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance for consumer credit card, consumer lending, and/or deposit products, required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of people leadership experience, including prior responsibility for managing managers and leading teams within a regulated environment, required.
  • Deep knowledge of banking laws, regulations, and supervisory expectations impacting consumer financial products, with the ability to apply regulatory requirements in a practical, risk-based manner.
  • Demonstrated executive leadership capability, including the ability to set strategic direction, lead through others, and influence outcomes across complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a proven ability to attract, develop, and retain high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to independently assess risk, prioritize issues, and navigate complex compliance matters with confidence and discretion.
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills, including the ability to clearly articulate complex compliance topics to senior leadership, regulators, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • High degree of professional integrity, emotional maturity, and executive presence, with the ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure or time-sensitive situations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a disciplined, fact-based approach to risk identification and issue resolution.
  • Ability to operate autonomously, manage competing priorities, and drive results with minimal oversight in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Archer, Excel, and SharePoint, with the ability to leverage systems and data to support compliance oversight, reporting, and decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience building, scaling, or overseeing compliance programs supporting multiple product lines strongly preferred.
  • Industry certifications such as Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), or similar strongly preferred; willingness and ability to obtain such certifications if not already held.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and executive oversight for Credit Card, Consumer Lending, and Consumer Deposits Product Compliance, ensuring alignment with enterprise compliance strategy and the Bank’s risk appetite, as directed by the Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Chief Compliance Officer and Product Compliance Teams, translating enterprise priorities into consistent, effective execution across product lines.
  • Directly supervise, coach, and develop the Credit Card and Recreation Lending / Consumer Deposit Product Compliance Team Leads, setting clear expectations for performance, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Establish vision, priorities, and execution standards for product compliance teams to ensure high-quality, timely, and consistent compliance risk management activities.
  • Oversee the execution of core compliance activities across product lines, including advisory support, Compliance Risk Assessments, Change Management Risk Assessments (CMRAs), monitoring, testing, issue management, and regulatory change implementation.
  • Provide executive oversight of compliance issue identification, remediation planning, and closure across product lines, ensuring timely resolution and sustainable corrective actions.
  • Proactively identify, monitor, and assess emerging compliance risks and trends, elevating material risks, delays, or systemic concerns to the Chief Compliance Officer and senior leadership as appropriate.
  • Drive standardization of compliance methodologies, tools, templates, and practices across product compliance teams to enhance consistency, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen compliance processes, controls, and risk management capabilities across Credit Card, Consumer Lending, and Consumer Deposits.
  • Ensure adequate staffing, resource allocation, and succession planning to support current and future compliance needs across product compliance functions.
  • Review, approve, and challenge compliance reporting, metrics, dashboards, and risk summaries prepared by team leads to ensure accuracy, clarity, and executive relevance.
  • Prepare and present executive-level compliance updates to the Chief Compliance Officer and other senior leaders, including risk assessments, trend analysis, and key issues impacting the business.
  • Serve as a trusted compliance advisor to product executives and cross-functional stakeholders, providing guidance on regulatory interpretation, risk mitigation strategies, and control design.
  • Represent the product compliance function in enterprise initiatives, regulatory examinations, audits, and internal governance forums, as required.
  • Utilize Archer, Excel, SharePoint, and other enterprise tools to support compliance oversight, reporting, issue tracking, and documentation.
  • Responsible for developing, documenting, communicating, maintaining, and enforcing effective control system policies and procedures within your area of oversight.
  • Responsible to act in a timely manner to update policies and procedures when changes in operating conditions occur and / or breakdowns or noncompliance with laws and regulations appear.
  • Responsible for complying with all of the Bank’s internal control policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with all laws and regulations to which the Bank is subject.
  • Responsible for communicating problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, noncompliance with laws and regulations, policy violations, or illegal acts.
