About The Position

BlackRock Global Corporate Communications is looking for a Vice President, based in New York, to support strategic communications for public affairs and corporate priorities. This includes crafting corporate narratives, developing spokesperson messaging, expertly handling both proactive and reactive media engagements, and coordinating multifaceted communications rollouts for various firm announcements/publications. This remit will include supporting the transparency of our stewardship efforts on behalf of clients, as well as managing communications associated with our industry-leading sustainable investing platform.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years' experience in corporate communications within the financial services industry and/or agency.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the asset management industry and capital markets.
  • Experience engaging with senior executives; navigating complex, global organizations; and fostering collaborative decision-making among senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional media relations capabilities and the ability to translate complex topics to simple, compelling narratives.
  • Track record of developing strategic, impactful communications plans across earned, owned, and paid that align with business priorities.
  • Ability to multitask and operate with flexibility in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability in working across different regions and times zones to drive global communications strategies and activations.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with senior executives, business leaders, marketing, public policy, and other members of the Corporate Communications team to develop proactive, multi-channel communications rollouts that leverage storytelling.
  • Plan and drive innovative media engagement programs that build greater understanding and recognition of our brand, businesses, and social contributions.
  • Help create core narratives and accompanying storylines for media interviews, article placements, and additional opportunities on social/other platforms.
  • Maintain strong relationships with media and continuously build new relationships (across print/broadcast/online) including with business/financial media, trade, and national media.
  • Demonstrate a deep experience developing a full range of press materials including press releases, media statements, key messages, media Q&As, and briefing documents for our spokespeople.
  • Develop excellent rapport with colleagues within different businesses, as well as with other functions such as marketing, legal, and compliance.
  • Comfortably handle regular media enquiries in a professional, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Support internal communications as needed, including with select executive communications.
