About The Position

Help us shape the future of Mobility. Verra Mobility is transforming from a project-based, IT-centric model to a modern Product Operating Model, and we’re seeking a visionary VP of Product, Commercial Services to lead this shift. Reporting to the SVP, Head of Product with a dotted line accountability to the EVP, Commercial Services, this leader will own product outcomes across our Commercial Services portfolio, supporting tolling, violations management, title & registration, and the platforms, data, and integrations that power them. Verra Mobility Commercial Services creates smart roadways, serving the world's largest commercial fleets and rental car companies to manage tolling transactions and violations for more than 8.5 million vehicles. Verra Mobility is a leading provider of connected systems, processing nearly 165 million transactions each year through connectivity with more than 50 individual tolling authorities and more than 400 issuing authorities. You will evangelize a compelling product vision, coach and empower product teams, and ensure we discover and deliver scalable, compliant, and high-reliability solutions that help fleets reduce cost, improve compliance, and keep vehicles moving. You’ll stand up and coach empowered product teams—led by Durable Trios of Product, Design, and Technology, spanning hardware, AI, SaaS, and services—to solve real customer problems and drive measurable business and customer impact. You will ensure teams are empowered to translate customer problems into scalable, compliant, and high-reliability solutions that help fleets reduce cost, improve compliance, keep vehicles moving and ensure our solutions remain smart, safe, and connected at scale. This role optimizes Team Topology to minimize dependencies, aligns staffing to outcomes, and partners closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Operations, and GTM to shape commercial strategy and accelerate growth and profitability. Requirements

  • Enterprise Product Strategy Ability to define and sustain a cohesive product vision that aligns customer problems, business strategy, and technology possibilities across a complex, multi-portfolio organization.
  • Coaching & Staffing Proven ability to assess product managers and coach them to competency. Expertise in shifting teams from output-focused delivery to outcome-based accountability.
  • Portfolio & Investment Leadership Strong judgment in allocating capital and capacity across core platforms, modernization, and new growth initiatives, making decisions to maximize enterprise value.
  • Product Operating Model Transformation Demonstrated success institutionalizing a modern Product Operating Model with empowered cross-functional teams, clear decision rights, discovery-first practices, accountability and transparency.
  • Executive Decision Quality Ability to make timely, high-quality decisions under ambiguity by balancing customer needs, financial return, technical feasibility, business viability and risk, while enabling decision velocity across the organization.
  • Talent & Organizational Leadership Track record of building, coaching, and retaining high-performing product, design, and engineering leaders, elevating capability and fostering strong cross-functional partnership.
  • Executive Communication & Influence Exceptional ability to communicate product strategy, trade-offs, and outcomes with clarity and credibility to the CEO, Board, and senior leaders, building alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • Domain Fluency in Complex Ecosystems Competency in managing products at the intersection of hardware, software, and the physical world. Ability to navigate high-compliance and complex matrix environments.
  • Experience: 10+ years of product leadership experience, with at least 5 years at the senior leadership or VP level in a medium-to-large public software or technology-enabled services company.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field of study.
  • Transformation Track Record: Demonstrated success in transforming feature-team organizations into empowered product team organizations.
  • Strategic Financial Acumen: Ability to speak the language of the C-Suite and Board. You understand how to connect product KPIs to financial outcomes.
  • Technical Fluency: You possess a deep understanding of modern platform architecture (APIs, microservices, cloud migration) and can partner effectively with Engineering leadership to enable innovation.
  • Change Management: Exceptional interpersonal skills and resilience. You are capable of driving alignment across Business Units and functional partners to deliver a unified customer experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to instill an empowered product culture: outcome-driven teams, customer focus, and strong business acumen.

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Domain Expertise: Experience in complex B2B/B2G/B2C environments; Background in automotive, mobility, connected vehicle, transportation tech, or adjacent B2B2C technology sectors is preferred.
  • You understand how to innovate in complex high-compliance environments where software interacts with the physical world.

Responsibilities

  • Product Vision & Strategy Own and Inspire Product Strategy for Commercial Services : Define and articulate a clear, insight-driven strategy aligned to company goals, ensuring strategic context and team priorities directly support business and customer outcomes.
  • Set the North Star: Establish a unified vision that integrates a diverse product portfolio into a seamless customer-centric ecosystem.
  • Shift to Outcome-Based Objectives : Shift the organization from roadmaps of features and dates to problem-focused, outcome-driven plans measured by customer retention, adoption, and margin expansion.
  • Portfolio Leadership: Optimize investments and resource allocation, setting objectives that maximize customer value and financial impact.
  • Organizational Transformation & Leadership Embed the Product Operating Model: Establish Product, Engineering, and Design as a partnership of missionaries that accelerates cross-functional collaboration and innovation.
  • Coach World-Class Talent: The single most important responsibility of this role is to coach your product managers to mastery. Recruit and develop top product leaders, elevate Design as a strategic partner, and strengthen director-level leadership to improve how teams discover, decide, and deliver.
  • Be a Cultural Change Agent : Champion a shift to empowered product teams where success is measured by outcomes, not output.
  • Execution & Delivery Drive Product Discovery and Delivery : Champion a customer-centered discovery process, working closely with Engineering and Product Design to confront risks early, validate and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Manage Business Viability: Balance innovation with the practical realities of procurement and compliance. You ensure solutions work for our business (legal, sales, finance), not just the user.
  • Platform Modernization: Collaborate with Engineering to lead the systems migration to modern, microservices-based platforms that increase agility, scalability, and strengthen customer acquisition.
  • Discovery-First Mindset: Champion a culture of continuous product discovery. Ensure teams validate value, usability, feasibility, and viability before writing code, minimizing waste and maximizing impact.
  • Customer Focus: Serve as a trusted product leader in conversations with customers, and stakeholders. Champion discovery and continuous learning to ensure products address real-world needs.
  • Outcome-Driven Governance: Oversee the Quarterly Product Business Review process to provide transparency into product health, strategic alignment, outcome metrics, data-driven insights, and share learnings on what is and isn't working.
