About The Position

The Vice President (VP) Clinically Integrated Network (CIN) serves as the enterprise executive leader responsible for the design, development, governance, and maturation of the health system’s Clinically Integrated Network. Functions as the architect and system integrator for physician alignment, population health, value based care, and risk based performance across employed and independent providers. Accountable for creating a cohesive CIN operating model that integrates managed care strategy, population health capabilities, physician performance management, and value based contracting into a unified, scalable platform that supports multiple payer and risk arrangements. Responsibilities include enterprise leadership and strategic partnership with managed care and ACO participation while serving as a lead for value based contracts that overlay negotiated fee for service contracts. Partners closely with clinical leadership, managed care, finance, population health, analytics, and operations to establish CIN governance, performance frameworks, physician engagement strategies, and incentive alignment. Represents the organization externally with payers, employers, physician partners, and community stakeholders as the executive leader of the CIN strategy. This role will operate within a matrixed environment, relying on influence, executive leadership, and partnership to support operational performance and create long term alignment and strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in: Accounting, Business, Finance, Health Administration or related field.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience with progressive leadership responsibility in the healthcare environment, at least (5) years of which should be in a physician managed care, value based contracting, or CIN/ACO leadership position with demonstrated competencies.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Knowledge of clinically integrated network design, governance, and physician alignment models.
  • Ability to build and scale enterprise platforms in a complex, matrixed health system.
  • Skill in leading with executive presence and ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Skill in change leadership, including comfort operating in an evolving environment.
  • Knowledge of population health operating models, care management strategies, and performance improvement frameworks.
  • Ability to align clinical quality, utilization management, and cost performance across diverse provider groups.
  • Ability to translate population health strategy into actionable operating models, workflows, and accountability structures.
  • Knowledge in value-based and risk-based care models, including shared savings, downside risk, and hybrid arrangements.
  • Knowledge of physician incentive models and performance-based compensation structures.
  • Skill in designing physician scorecards, performance dashboards, and incentive alignment frameworks.
  • Ability to establish trust, credibility, and sustained physician participation in enterprise initiatives.
  • Knowledge of analytics with ability to interpret clinical, financial and operational performance data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations and external representation.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear strategic direction.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the enterprise architect for the Clinically Integrated Network, defining the CIN’s structure, governance, operating model, and long term maturation roadmap.
  • Design and lead the integration of managed care strategy, population health operations, physician performance management, and value based contracting into a unified CIN platform.
  • Establish participation criteria, governance structures, and performance standards for employed and independent physician participants.
  • Lead the development and implementation of physician engagement strategies that align clinical quality, utilization, and cost performance with value based incentives.
  • Oversee the design and deployment of physician scorecards, performance dashboards, and incentive alignment models across the CIN.
  • Partner with clinical leadership to reduce unwarranted variation and promote evidence based care pathways across the network.
  • Design the enterprise population health operating model that enables CIN success across multiple payer and risk arrangements.
  • Define future state accountability, workflows, staffing models, and enabling technologies to support care management and performance improvement.
  • Partner with analytics, quality, and operations leaders to ensure actionable performance measurement and reporting.
  • Establish the strategic architecture for value based and risk based contracting in partnership with enterprise managed care and finance leaders.
  • Provide executive oversight of CIN performance across ACOs, Medicare Advantage, commercial value based contracts, and employer arrangements.
  • Evaluate where specific contracting vehicles (e.g., ACO participation, Physician Network, regional partnerships) add value within the broader CIN strategy.
  • Establish and support physician led and enterprise CIN governance structures, committees, and forums.
  • Ensure alignment between CIN strategy and broader health system goals, including quality, growth, financial sustainability, and academic mission.
  • Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on CIN strategy, performance, and market evolution.
  • Represent the organization externally as the executive leader of the Clinically Integrated Network with payers, employers, physician partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Monitor external market trends, regulatory developments, and emerging value based models to inform CIN strategy and evolution.
  • Operate effectively within a matrixed organizational structure, leveraging influence and collaboration rather than direct control.
  • Lead the ongoing evolution of the CIN role, governance, and operating model as the network matures and expands.
