About The Position

The Vice President & Chief of Operations for Regional Bus is responsible for directing the delivery of safe, reliable, cost-effective, and on-schedule bus transportation for all operating divisions of NYC Transit and MTA Bus. This role involves overseeing transportation, maintenance, and administrative activities both at the depot level and on the road. The position requires studying the operations of both entities to identify and implement best practices, ensuring accountability for the quality of operations and meeting annual goals through effective management of all classes of employees and collaboration with support departments and other City/State agencies.

Requirements

  • A Baccalaureate's degree from an accredited college in Transportation Management or a satisfactory equivalent.
  • Fifteen (15) years of satisfactory related professional experience, with at least ten (10) years in a managerial/supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the delivery of daily bus service throughout all operating divisions of the Regional Bus Department.
  • Develop short and long-range transportation operational and strategic plans, including on-time performance, service regularity, accident reduction, crime/vandalism reduction, and improved customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement all related policies, procedures, and directives, ensuring compliance.
  • Direct the development of all annual employee and fiscal resource levels, including budget development, monitoring, and amending.
  • Direct the application of labor agreements and related policies, including the development and negotiation of department-wide objectives for contract negotiations.
  • Ensure consistent bus operations from NYCT and MTA Bus, studying operations to identify and implement best practices.
  • Direct and oversee the activities of the Centralized Road Service Unit, ensuring minimal impact to service and expeditious dispatch of replacement buses.
