About The Position

The Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer (VP/CNO) at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital is responsible for developing and implementing nursing strategies to create a world-class nursing organization that ensures high-quality patient care. This role involves overseeing nursing and clinical services, establishing standards of practice, and participating in strategic planning and decision-making at the highest levels of the organization. The VP/CNO will lead a diverse team, manage operational initiatives, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations while advocating for nursing within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Master's degree in nursing, business management, or related field.
  • Ten years of directly related experience, including leading high-performing teams.
  • At least eight years in a management role, with a successful track record in strategic planning and operational management.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure or Temporary State Licensure within 60 days.
  • ANCC Recognized Leadership Certification (Magnet-L).

  • Membership in American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement nursing strategies for a professional nursing organization.
  • Ensure compliance with Standards of Patient Care and promote optimum healthcare delivery.
  • Provide management and oversight of multiple areas and entities within the organization.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to meet organizational objectives and solve internal issues.
  • Develop and direct policy and procedure development for assigned areas.
  • Enhance employee engagement and ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Drive initiatives to improve patient outcomes and community health.
  • Lead internal teams and provide training and mentorship to staff.
