About The Position

The Vice President / Chief Financial Officer, Physician Organizations & Ambulatory Services at UCSF Health is the lead financial executive overseeing UCSF Faculty Practice/SOM Physicians, UCSF/Benioff Children's Physicians Joint Operations, and other community physicians affiliated with UCSF Health, managing approximately $2.9B in expenditures. This role is crucial as the Ambulatory Services unit is the fastest growing and a major strategic priority for UCSF Health. The CFO will enhance the role of strategic finance in developing new capabilities while ensuring standardization and accurate reporting. Responsibilities include planning, execution, and monitoring of financial operations, establishing financial goals, budget development, and serving as a strategic advisor for financial planning and governance. The CFO will also oversee annual capital and operations budgets, funds flow, financial planning and analysis, accounting, and physician contracting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field and master's degree and/or CPA required.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting, finance, and leadership experience.
  • Strong administrative leadership experience in an academic medical center or large healthcare setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting, reporting, budgeting and benchmarking practices.
  • Sound understanding of financial operations including planning, execution, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Leads budgeting, planning, analysis and decision support for all physician organizations.
  • Develops and manages operating and capital budget; continuously improves the budgeting process.
  • Coordinates and provides key physician performance information in support of department evaluation.
  • Supervises the development of proformas that forecast financial performance of growth initiatives.
  • Drives efficiency and profitability through financial analysis and timely reporting.
  • Serves as the financial leader for faculty practice advisory committee.
  • Oversees the continuous review and management of funds flow agreements.
  • Prepares, distributes and analyses monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Develops and maintains effective internal control systems.
  • Collaborates with UCSF Health and Campus to ensure appropriate financing for new initiatives.
