About The Position

The Vice President of BlackRock Investment Stewardship will lead proxy voting analysis and engagement for companies in the Industrials and Materials sectors. This role focuses on supporting portfolio company analysis, engagement, and voting, with an emphasis on corporate governance and sustainability practices. The position requires collaboration with sector analysts and involves preparing for and documenting engagement meetings, analyzing financial performance, and ensuring compliance with proxy voting policies.

Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in finance, economics, accounting, political science, sustainability, or a relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an Industrials- and/or Materials-related role with a strong understanding of financial statements.
  • A keen interest in corporate governance and sustainable business practices in the Industrials and Materials sectors.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information clearly.
  • Ability to prioritize and resolve complex issues under time pressure with attention to detail.
  • Organized, self-reliant, and self-motivated approach to responsibilities.
  • Collaborative working style with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft products.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating expertise on sector dynamics, including economic performance and corporate governance practices.
  • Preparing for, leading, and documenting engagement meetings with portfolio companies.
  • Learning and applying BIS engagement priorities and proxy voting policies.
  • Supporting data gathering and reporting to inform voting decisions.
  • Assisting in preparing position papers for discussions with BlackRock audiences.
  • Collaborating to improve policy and business processes.
  • Analyzing and benchmarking financial and operational performance of portfolio companies.
  • Monitoring legal and regulatory developments to enhance BlackRock's principles.
  • Participating in benchmarking analysis and modeling for engagement practices.
  • Monitoring proxy voting workflow to ensure compliance with guidelines.
