Overview: The Vice President ASPCA Animal Hospital (VP) is the Department Head (DH) of the ASPCA Animal Hospital (AAH) in New York City. AAH provides emergency and urgent care for approximately 6,500 of the most vulnerable animals in the city, including victims of suspected cruelty or neglect identified through our partnership with NYPD, and animals with good prognosis whose owners have severely limited resources. A primary focus of AAH is research and training with special emphasis on contextualized care, forensics, and animal sheltering to advance access to care nationwide, with 6 full-time, year-long internships for new veterinarians and multiple extern and intern opportunities for roughly 40 veterinarians and veterinary technicians annually. The VP ensures efficient, effective hospital operations that deliver high-quality, accessible care and support AAH’s training and research priorities. This leader builds a strong, mission-driven team culture and works closely with the Senior Vice President of Veterinary Medicine, the Senior Vice President of Community-Centered Medicine, and the Vice Presidents of ASPCA Spay/Neuter Alliance and Community Medicine to support effective matrix management and to align hospital efforts with organization-wide goals that expand access to care and improve animal welfare. The VP leads the team in carrying out the AAH’s part of the ASPCA’s overall strategic direction, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and goals. The role oversees 6 staff, reports to the Senior Vice President of Community-Centered Medicine (CCM) and participates on the Community-Centered Medicine Leadership Team. Where and When You’ll Work This is an onsite, NYC-based role supporting a 24/7 hospital operation. While structured as a 5-day workweek, responsibilities may occasionally require evening or weekend availability. The role is open to eligible candidates residing within the United States and includes up to 10% travel annually, as needed. What You’ll Get Compensation: Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and staff compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The expected hiring salary range for this role is set forth below and may be modified in the future. The target hiring range for a candidate who does not hold a Veterinary degree is $220,000-$235,000 annually.
