We’re searching for a visionary, product-minded AI leader who combines technical depth with large-scale leadership experience. You’ve personally driven at least one AI-first product from zero to clear product-market fit (PMF), and know what it takes to scale from incubation to market leadership. You’re equally comfortable leading an org of 100+ top-tier engineers—including Distinguished Engineers and Senior Directors—as you are engaging deeply with emerging AI technologies. This position is a people manager role reporting to the GVP, Engineering.

  • Lead and grow a 100+ person GenAI organization of highly skilled engineers, researchers influence product leaders, setting a high technical bar while fostering a culture of speed, experimentation, and accountability
  • Drive the 0→1 and 1→n journey for GenAI features and agentic workflows central to our IAM strategy, translating technical breakthroughs into products that win in market
  • Establish measurable PMF metrics, run fast-paced market experiments, and pivot strategies as needed without ego
  • Lead at scale, expect to stay technically sharp—whether reviewing code, guiding architecture, or prototyping with modern LLM stacks
  • Guide teams on foundation model selection, fine-tuning strategies, retrieval pipelines, and robust governance including security, compliance, and risk controls
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Security, Legal, and vendor partners to optimize for cost, performance, and compliance
  • Represent Docusign’s AI leadership internally and externally, whether through keynotes, open-source contributions, or industry partnerships
  • 12+ years in production software, with 7+ years focused on ML and AI systems
  • 10+ years of engineering leadership, including experience scaling and leading large, high-performing teams (100+)
  • Proven track record as a founder, early technical leader, or principal engineer on an AI-first product that achieved PMF (sustained growth, $5M+ ARR, or NPS >40)
  • Deep expertise in modern LLM architectures, RAG, orchestration frameworks, and MLOps
  • Fluency in at least two of: Python, Go, Rust, TypeScript, with hands-on experience in MLOps practices
  • Able to distill complex AI concepts for technical and executive audiences alike
  • Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis without the need for current or future sponsorship.
  • Published contributor to AI research, OSS, or community forums
  • Prior experience in B2B SaaS or workflow automation
  • Proven success scaling an AI team from incubation to significant organizational scope, while maintaining technical credibility
  • Advanced degree (Master’s/PhD) in CS, EE, or equivalent experience
  • Bonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals. Non-Sales roles are eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on company performance.
