About The Position

SUMMARY The Vice President for Acquisition Strategy and Growth is an executive responsible for driving enterprise growth through the integration of strategic acquisition planning, market expansion, and disciplined execution across the business development lifecycle. This role aligns long-term growth strategies, including diversification, market targeting, and portfolio shaping, with oversight of acquisition support functions such as Business Development, Capture Management, and Proposal Development, including pricing. The VP translates corporate growth objectives into actionable strategies and executable pipelines, ensuring alignment between long-term strategic direction and revenue generation. This leader partners closely with executive leadership to identify, prioritize, and pursue opportunities that expand the organization’s capabilities, customer base, and market presence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in business development, capture management, acquisition and growth strategy.
  • Expert knowledge of federal government acquisition and contracting regulations and policies.
  • Demonstrated executive leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking, business acumen, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated success in managing full BD lifecycle and winning complex, competitive opportunities.
  • Experience leading integrated BD, capture, and proposal organizations.
  • Experience supporting market expansion, diversification, or new capability development.
  • DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • In addition, a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States are required.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Growth & Portfolio Development
  • Develop and execute of enterprise growth strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for diversification across markets, customers, capabilities, and contract vehicles.
  • Shape and balance the company’s portfolio to optimize growth, profitability, and risk.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify emerging trends, customer priorities, and competitive positioning.
  • Identify and recommend strategic investments in capabilities, partnerships, and market entry initiatives.Market Targeting & Opportunity Identification
  • Establish and manage a structured targeting process to prioritize high-value opportunities.
  • Align opportunity identification efforts with strategic growth objectives and diversification goals.
  • Guide early engagement with customers to shape requirements and position the company for success.
  • Lead and institutionalize executive-level bid/no-bid decisions, ensuring alignment with strategic fit, probability of win, and return on investment thresholds.
  • Business Development & Pipeline Management
  • Develop and manage a qualified pipeline that supports both short-term revenue and long-term growth.
  • Lead strategy for positioning and leveraging key contract vehicles (e.g., GWACs, IDIQs, OTA consortia) to drive growth.
  • Drive alignment between pipeline development and corporate strategy to support targeted growth outcomes.
  • Drive customer engagement strategies and maintain key relationships within target markets.
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and teaming agreements to support growth objectives.Capture Management
  • Oversee the Capture Team in developing and executing effective capture strategies for priority pursuits.
  • Ensure disciplined capture processes are implemented, including competitive analysis, win strategy development, and milestone reviews.
  • Provide leadership and direction on high-value or strategically important opportunities.Proposal Development (Proposals & Pricing)
  • Lead the Proposal Development function, including proposal management, content development, compliance, and submission.
  • Oversee pricing strategy to ensure competitiveness, profitability, and alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Ensure proposals are compliant, compelling, and aligned with approved capture strategies.
  • Establish and maintain standardized processes, tools, and quality controls across proposal and pricing activities.
  • Leadership & Organizational Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Business Development Department, including Capture and Proposal teams.
  • Establish performance metrics tied to pipeline health, win rates, and revenue growth.
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture focused on achieving growth objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Integration
  • Collaborate with operations and executive leadership to align growth strategies with delivery capabilities.
  • Establish and oversee a disciplined transition from capture to program execution, ensuring continuity, alignment with win strategy, and sustained customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to corporate strategic planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.External Engagement
  • Represent the organization with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Participate in industry events, conferences, and strategic engagements to enhance market visibility.
