About The Position

Burson is seeking to hire a Vice President of Accounting to support the Senior Vice President of Finance in overseeing the company's accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining a robust internal control environment. This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting activities, and assisting with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. This is an opportunity to play a key role in audit controls, and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and compliance across the finance function of a global Public Relations firm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, related field required or equivalent career experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (and IFRS if applicable).
  • Experience with financial systems (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Maconomy, or similar).
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (Power Query and Power Pivot) and strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and reviews.
  • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial data across all systems.
  • Balance Sheet reconciliation, intercompany transactions, and NWC reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS and corporate accounting policies.
  • Assist with internal and external audits; prepare supporting documentation and respond to audit inquiries.
  • Monitor and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management to support strategic decision-making.
  • Support the shared finance accounting team (AP, AR, payroll, and general accounting).
  • Review work prepared by Finance Directors for accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve reporting efficiency.
