About The Position
The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix is seeking a vice chair of education in the Department of Neurology. This is an opportunity for an outstanding leader with a national reputation as a respected and accomplished clinician, educator and collaborator with a proven track record in innovating education methods of medical students, residents and fellows. The Department of Neurology is seeking to strengthen its existing programs and to expand its educational activities as part of its contribution to the College's mission. The department currently has a residency and a sleep medicine fellowship in partnership with Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix (Banner - University Phoenix). The vice chair works in strategic consultation with the department chair, the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education and the Office of Graduate Medical Education. The vice chair will lead an education strategic plan improving medical students' neuroscience curriculum, expanding neurology residency program and creating new neurology subspecialty fellowships. The vice chair will serve as a mentor and will be developing collaborative relationships with university, clinical and community partners. The successful candidate will fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member in an appropriate department, actively participate in teaching, clinical service and/or scholarly work, and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor.
