PHI Air Medical is seeking a VFR Lead Pilot for operations in Austin, TX. The position requires adherence to CAMTS guidelines and involves operating BH407 VFR/NVG aircraft. The role includes 24-hour operations with day/night rotations. Successful applicants may need to transition to the aircraft, which comes with a one-year minimum service requirement per the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). A relocation package is available, but if utilized, a two-year minimum service requirement applies. Housing will not be provided.

  • Maintain a staff of pilots with the necessary knowledge and skills to operate various aircraft at the base in accordance with the General Operations Manual (GOM) and FAA regulations.
  • Coordinate with Air Medical Base Supervisor/Business Operations Manager and Area Manager for business planning, marketing, and efficient operation of the EMS base.
  • Supervise EMS base pilots, including professional development, assessments, counseling, and recommending disciplinary actions as required.
  • Work with Air Medical Base Supervisor/Business Operations Manager for scheduling base pilots' occupational health compliance and safety training.
  • Manage monthly scheduling, workover assignments, and coverage for sick calls/vacations/open shifts.
  • Ensure timely distribution of the monthly schedule and updates to appropriate departments.
  • Audit routine base bills and processes for payment.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA Regulations and Company Policies and Procedures by all personnel under supervision.
  • Participate in safety meetings and assist in maintaining flight safety and a safe workplace.
  • Commercial and Instrument Helicopter Ratings.
  • First Class Medical certification.
  • 2,000 Total Flight Hours, including 1,500 Hours in Helicopters, 1,000 Hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) of Helicopters, 500 Hours in Turbine Helicopters, and 100 Hours in Unaided Night Operations or 50 Hours Unaided and 100 Hours with Night Vision Goggles (NVG).
  • Must meet and maintain the company's flight personnel weight restriction policy (235 lbs or less).
