About The Position

The Veterinary Technologist will provide essential technical support for neuroscience research, anesthesia, and surgical procedures involving experimental animals, particularly non-human primates. This role is critical for ensuring the health and well-being of the animals used in research, as well as maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in a laboratory animal facility or veterinarian clinic with a High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience in animal anesthesia.
  • Certification through the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science or registered Veterinarian Technician (RTV) license.
  • Experience as a Veterinarian Technician.
  • Experience with large animals, preferably non-human primates, including handling, dosing, and anesthesia.

  • More than two years of experience in a laboratory animal facility or veterinarian clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine health checks on non-human primates for signs of disease or illness.
  • Maintain medical records and administer treatments/medications as required.
  • Provide anesthesia and surgical support for researchers.
  • Clean and maintain clinical supplies and sterilize instruments and surgical packs.
  • Maintain controlled-substance logs and regulatory documentation.
  • Prepare diagnostic samples and assist in experimental procedures.
  • Train non-human primates in simple behavioral tasks.
