About The Position

Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician to provide skilled care to our patients and exceptional service to our clients. The salary for this position ranges from $20.00 to $23.00 per hour, dependent on experience, with a schedule of 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM Monday to Friday, and alternating Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Requirements

• 1+ years of Veterinary Technician experience.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
• Knowledgeable about common disease states and able to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
• Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide status updates for hospitalized patients and home care instructions.
• Educate clients on preventative medicine, wellness care by age, vaccine requirements, and laboratory procedures.
• Greet clients and escort them and their pets into exam rooms.
• Restrain animals safely and compassionately and assist veterinarians in medical, surgical, and dental procedures.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using a paperless medical record system.
• Assist with dispensing medications as directed by the veterinarian and prepare prescription labels.
• Follow DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines; administer SQ, IM, and IV injections; perform laboratory tests, radiographs, and electrocardiograms.
