About The Position

Desert Tails Animal Clinic is seeking a dedicated and passionate Veterinary Technician to join our growing team. This full-time position involves working four 10-hour shifts per week, including three Saturday half-day shifts each month. We are looking for individuals who are highly motivated team players with excellent communication skills and a fun-loving, easy-going personality. Attention to detail is crucial, as is the ability to remain calm in busy and ever-changing environments. Candidates should be comfortable working with both dogs and cats and be committed to a career in veterinary medicine, with a strong interest in growth and ongoing training. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in client communication and education, obtaining and recording patient histories, and performing physical assessments of patients. Your responsibilities will include gentle restraint and handling of animals, performing venipuncture and IV catheter placements, conducting in-house laboratory procedures, and microscopic evaluations. You will also be responsible for drug calculations, surgical preparation and assistance, inducing and monitoring anesthesia, performing dental prophylaxis and radiographs, and providing patient recovery and nursing care. Additionally, you will manage client service and communication, including welcoming and discharging patients, managing phone lines, booking appointments, setting up new clients and patients, and handling over-the-counter sales. General hospital cleaning will also be part of your duties. At Desert Tails Animal Clinic, we pride ourselves on being a busy, 1.5-doctor practice that provides a range of services to small animals and exotics in our community. Our primary services include dentistry, grooming, laboratory work, outpatient care, pharmacy, radiology, and surgery. We maintain a “country doctor” atmosphere where clients feel heard and understand the reasons behind procedures, ensuring their pets are treated like family. Our practice is fast-paced, but we prioritize a great work-life balance for our team members, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment where we genuinely enjoy working together.
