Job Summary Summary Performs medical tests in a laboratory environment for use in the treatment and diagnosis of diseases in animals. Prepares vaccines and serums for the prevention of diseases. Prepares tissue samples, takes blood samples, and executes laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and blood counts. Clean and sterilize instruments and materials, and maintain equipment and machines. May assist a veterinarian during surgery. Does this position require Patient Care? No

  • Positions patients and accurately selects anatomic and technical factors.
  • Perform basic animal restraint and provide basic animal husbandry
  • Take vitals (temperature, weight, height, blood pressure)
  • Process patient specimens (blood, urine, breath)
  • Prepare appropriate medical supplies for patient appointments
  • Maintains animal records by documenting animal conditions, reactions, and changes; updating the database.
  • Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients assigned ASA II & III classification.
  • Associate's Degree Veterinary Technology preferred
  • Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? Yes
  • Experience in laboratory animal or veterinary care 1-2 years required
  • Strong understanding of all Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong and proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to work with staff of all levels.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Analytical and math skills.
  • Knowledge of Accounting Principles.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and rapidly changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of veterinary record keeping is required.
  • Certified Laboratory Animal Technician [LAT] - American Association for Laboratory Animal Science preferred
